Got an oil leak from the middle of the long line. Has anyone made up their own lines to replace the stock items?

if the banjo's are ok then you could try a plumbing flexi and a cppl clips. as long as the bore is the right size then all will be well.

I looked at this but ended up buying a whole oil cooler off ebay for less than this would have cost.

Trying to find a replacement line is frustrating. In the UK they're like rocking horse dung, and really expensive to buy new, but in the states you can get them for a few dollars but the postage is obviously very expensive.

Cheers chaps, fired Earls a mail and ended up getting a set from there, £52 posted. Not cheap but looking at second hand and new prices not to bad.

Shall update thread when I get them, guess the price isn't bad just an expensive self created problem lol. Fitted my new sprocket carrier bearing today also so now if I can get the exhaust studs sorted the bike can go back on the road.

Do you need to prime the oil cooler to get air out or anything prior to refitting?

I didn't when I replaced mine. Just drained the oil first, replaced the cooler and refilled.

Pirtek here in Dublin ripped me off for mine and there gone rust at the banjo seal as that bit must not be stainless. €96 after vat and they were wrongly fitting as a result of the guy crimping slightly off 90 degrees on the banjos.

Anyway, he told me that he would give it one more shot and if they didnt fit. i had to pay €96 quid again!

Anyway, im sure it was just the ***** in that branch but if you can, bring the bike and have then fit at the pirtek branch. heard of another fella doing this and he didnt have a problem.

Seem to be a good fit and look much better than the standard items.

Don't worry they won't stand out so much after a few wet rides.

Lol, yes the front of the bike needs a good clean. The oil cooler is pretty scabby looking I need to strip it down and paint it or something but need to get other things sorted out before going there!

I'm considering taking the oil cooler right off. It keeps getting gunged up with mud, so probably not doing any good in any case.

Cleaned up the bike a bit so they don't stand out so much, finished my suspension overhaul also so the bike is back on its wheels :)

I'd have just squirted some mud on them to take off the shine!

Did you know your water radiator is bent? :p

Looks great. Wish I'd seen this two weeks ago. That was when I ordered a whole cooler and lines from the US and I'm still waiting. I called Earls this evening, but they were probably enjoying the sunshine so didn't bother to answer. So my question...

- Is there a link to these hoses on the site or will I have to call to arrange/make payment etc? I have a pointy like you so I need what you have.

Fookinell...

Just get some made. Don't go to pirtek, pirtek are who you use if your 5 grand an hour production line is down and you need a hose knocking up at 4 in the morning.

Go to a local hydraulics supplier, either normal 2 wire hydraulic hose with the over sleeving (or without it!) or the braided PTFE core stuff, and some stainless ends (or normal ones if you're poor, they're galvanised and you'll never rot through them).

I bet if I went to local guy it wouldn't be more than £15 a hose, but he doesn't do sleeving.

If someone local fancies we can experiment... or send me a knackered set of pipes and I can get them copied.

I think I can do this - got my old oil cooler + pipes kicking around somewhere...

ah this was for the SV1000 - never mind

How comes the banjos are £120 for 4 tho? do they use specialist equipment to attach the hose to the banjo? I have the banjo bolts.

Should be able to make your own up for sensible money. I didn't have time for the faff as the bike is my main commuting tool and needed it sorted ASAP. Also the earls kit for the 650S seemed sensible. Ask if they can make one up with the same galvanised ends perhaps as it seems it's the alloy banjos that are bumping the price.

I rang them and it was the alloy banjos that were bumping it up! In the end I got steel ones and all in was £60 with postage, cheers for the help guys!
