good news for pointy owners

i contacted YSS suspension about their PD fork valves (emulators) sizing. and the response was 33.5mm outer diameter and 26mm inner to fit on top of the damper. the pointy damper rod top is 34.5mm x 26.5mm ish. so the good news is that you will no longer need to install a bush on the top of the damper rod to fit the emulators like you did with the debrix ones. you will however still need to drill out the bottom bleed holes and weld up the rebound bleed holes.

price for the YSS PD valves is around £80.

I bought some YSS rear shocks for Wifey's bike and the quality of them is excellent, given that I would imagine that these parts are pretty damn good. :D

Has anyone fitted these on a pointy? I see em on fleabay at 60 odd quid under fork valves.......

not to my knowledge but if the information that YSS gave me is correct (dont think they would lie) they will go straight in. well sort of as you need to open up the compression bleed holes and weld up the rebound holes for them to work properly. without doing the work to the damper rods then your still going to get rocking horse syndrome.

TBH its the lack of rebound dampening on the SV that is the bad part.

Ive got no problem doing the compression holes mod but welding the rebounds would be a pain. I was hoping to get away without doing it.....

I think you should be fine, just pick a fork oil that puts the rebound damping about right. Maybe start at about a 15w if you've opened up the compression holes.

As I can't see any ebay listings for YSS SV650 listings, any other models known to fit or do we have links for the SV650 anywhere?

I'm on their webpage and they don't list details for the SV either: http://www.yssusa.com/products_PDValveList.html#SUZUKI

I think the Bandit 600 is similar but don't quote me on that. I've also noticed YSS don't list the SV but an ebay search for fork valves 335 (bibio's diameter) will bring up a few results.

If you do an eBay search for "YSS PD fork valves 33.5" and tick the box "include description" you will find a load listed at a very reasonable £63.27 inc P&P by Brooks Barn. I ordered some 26.5mm ones for my old TZR125 I used to commute on before I retired, and am currently restoring - they were dispatched and delivered quickly. I haven't fitted them yet as I am still waiting for the springs I ordered.

I was in email conversation with BrooksBarn today, will see what they come back with.

I've seen a few listed with the 33.5mm OD but what about the diameter of the part that sits in the damper rod "cup" or do these ones not do that?

Cheers all.

Bibio says that is 26mm. I've no idea what the damper rod cup size is on the SV's.

Yeah I'm sure Bibio's figures are right, just wondering if all the 33.5mm OD valves have the correct 26mm diameter of the protruding part?

I would imagine so but not certain.

Guess I'll just go ahead and find out
