Tony, if you do find anywhere, let me know. I tried loads of places and had no luck.

The issue with replacing the sole is that it is going to be different to the original, and not bonded as well to the boot.
I think I messaged Sidi before about sole replacement, and effectively the answer I got was you can try a new sole but we recommend new boots. No surprise really!
I average 2 years or so from my boots till the soles are worn out, then get new boots.

I got mine done in an independent cobblers. It wasn't a racing sole they put on it - it was a hard wearing walking one. That was 8 months ago and they're still going very strong. Can't fault them at all!

Hi Tony (& FG1)

I'd suggest maybe getting in touch with Timpson, based in Queensmere, which I imagine is quite accessible for you - a friendly and helpful bunch.
Phone no. 01753 577 612 (http://www.timpson.co.uk/slough-queensmere).

You could give them a ring for a quote. I have never used the Slough branch for replacing soles; only keys, but they are a national company which has been around for decades and do all sorts. I imagine they have soles they can put on, but if you want a SIDI sole, I've seen some on ebay such as these:

Whatever you decide, do post the outcome on this thread if you don't mind, as I would be quite interested!

Good luck :).

first job was at Timpsons. doing a DIY is harder then people think and usually dont last long. to do it properly you need a last and a press. you also need a heat source like a grill. if you supply the soles then depending on the people at your local Timpsons they will do the job for you. the hardest part is getting the old sole off which requires a lot of heat and skill with the tongs, if your not careful you will rip the footbed out.

Wow, so did you ever carry out any sole replacements?

yup, even done dr martin soles which have to be stitched on a big fek off sewing machine that looks nothing like a sewing machine and more like a pillar drill. there is also a special trimming drum that puts the ribs back on the sides so it looks like it came out the factory. lol

your average sole replacement involves just grinding down the old sole on the drum sander then gluing the new one on. same goes for heals which depending on the type get stapled as well.

i left that job as a result of one of the staff pizzing me off and me shooting him with a full magazine of staples. yes he danced a merry dance :-)
