Unfortunately horse chestnut trees are becoming increasingly uncommon as there is a pest attacking them.
I found this beautiful example but can you guess where it is!

Under a spreading Chestnut tree
the village alien stands
The alien a mighty man is he
With frail looking thin grey hands...
Not got quite the same ring to it.

Didn't realize there was a difference.
Never seen either as there are no longer any Chestnut trees in this part of the US.
Americans brought a number of plants over from Asia in the early 1900s most of which ended up as ecological disasters including the Asian chestnut which carried blight.
There's at least 11 horse chestnut in the US :)

None of which grow naturally within hundreds of miles from where I live.

Unless they'd wipe out some other species of tree it's likely illegal to send them here.

Did I read that right? So it's ok to send if they do wipe out another tree species?

Spot the grammar pedant .
Unbelievably my Dad posted his sister-in-law some tomato seeds and wondered why they were never delivered. Probably because he truthfully declared on the customs form exactly what was in the parcel (several varieties apparently) and the Aussie authorities no doubt burned them instantly when they arrived down there. My Dad is a bit daft sometimes - hope it's not too hereditary.

I was being sarcastic because of the government's past blunders in introducing new species of plants into the US.
