As most of us know, Givi have stopped producing a pannier rack set for the SV650/s despite its popularity etc. Does anyone have one for sale or, failing that, does anyone know of a 'bodge' that would allow me to use a rack intended for another bike (cut a bit here, bend a bit there and it'll fit no worries)?

Good riding,

Al

Givi Wing rack and universal fitting kit. A bit of a faf but it does the job.

Just done this with a Givi CB500 rack as it seemed the closest in shape to what was needed and was available off the shelf...

I loaded up the panniers to about double the Givi weight limit of 10kg per pannier and abused them on a 1,400 mile, 3 day road trip and they held up fine so I'm going to clean up the welds and get the modified rack powder coated...

That's a pretty neat job, reckon you could get some business there. Have you any pic's of it all together with panniers on etc.

Hi there millemille,

This is just the sort of thing I'm looking for. Looks like you did a bit of cutting and welding - could you elaborate? But my SV650 is a 'pointy' one (K4) and I wondered if your ingenious bodge would still work.

Best wishes,

Al

Sounds promising. Could you give a bit more info?

Best,

Al

Bear in mind these are huge panniers...

In terms of getting business, I'm not sure; would anyone be prepared to pay about £50 for the work?

Are you sure Givi aren't doing the pannier rack for the pointy any more?

To fit the curvy I made the rear cross peice about 2" wider, cut off the original tabs that hung from the grab rail mounts and bent new ones from steel bar and welded these on, straightened the r/h side arm that bolts to the silencer hanger and finally cut and extended the l/h side arm that bolts to the back of the pillion foot peg bracket.

Anything can be made to fit any bike, providing you've got the right tools, materials and skills.......
