Hello Folks,
I'm a new member from Canada.
Just purchased a used 2005 SV650s with full fairing.
Love the bike, wanted this bike for a few years now and its finally come true.
Hope to learn some tips and tricks for proper care and maintenance.
Not looking to mod this bike up or do anything too fancy, perhaps a fender eliminator kit and a slip on exhaust (maybe).
Anyways, thanks for your time, here's a few cellphone pics.

hey, shiney bike.. ive been told the yellow ones go faster ;) haha . I have a older curvy and loving it.
Welcome to the forum.
Just in case you weren't aware it looks like you have a k4 model rather than the 2005 as it has a silver frame rather than the black frame. Might make a difference when buying parts.
Enjoy your bike :)

Yellow does go fast, almost as fast as red I hear.

It's has a black frame, vehicle registration says its a 2005, black frame all the way! LOL
This is my first bike, and my first task is clean it up, clean the chain and lube it. Previous owner only took it to the mechanic for basic maintenance.
Going to purchase a set of rear stands so I can do some work on it myself.

Thanks everyone.
Cleaning up chain and rear sprocket. Is it necessary to clean the front sprocket too?
Change bar ends since right one is damaged, as well as right frame sliders.
Going to do some searching on here for good info.
Hi and welcome!
Nice bike, I like it in yellow. A new end can is a must, for the sound as well as the looks :)

afternoon amd welcome.
nice bike and Alans right with a nice can the bike sounds sweet. but most of all get out there and enjoy it.
might also be an idea to have a look at the front sprocket its a quick job to take the cover off and have a look and a wee clean while you're there.

Thinking of getting Delkevic for it, cheap and good, sounds are subjective but its loud and that's a good thing on a motorcycle.
As for front sprockets, I can't seem to be getting this damn search function to work properly, can someone direct me on front sprocket cover removal tutorial? I youtubed/googled/redtubed it and found nothing related.
Thanks.
welcome to the madhouse.
top tip when taking the sprocket cover off. mark the output shaft to the shifter arm with a sharpie so you know where it goes back on.
remove the three bolts, one is on the top and the other two are underneath 8mm socket IIR.
Carelesschucca, are you saying that urine is good for cleaning up around the front sprocket, cos I've been using paraffin !!!

Gave her a good wash and cleaned/lubed the chain.
Damn it has so much gunk and grime all over the sprockets and swing arm.
Looks almost factory new!
I'd also like to add that I purchased a rear stand and I was so scared of using it at first, but now I think its easy.
Oddly enough I've noticed a tick while I'm riding it, could be a number of things (Chain tension, valves, etc)

Hi, I am new on here as well. yep get rid of the standard exhaust, anything else will improve looks and sound. my SV has a tri-oval can, sounds mint!!, I just fitted an EVo-Tech tail tidy, easy job, looks nicer as well.

Thanks folks. I ordered my FE kit.
Now here comes to most repetitive questions every asked on forums.
Which exhaust?!?? Kidding
I'm torn between Scorpion Factory Oval (looks like I have to get rid of the rear peg), Yoshi RS3, or M4.
For me the sound clips on Youtube don't convince me, I heard a Yoshi on a sv650, its not loud but its deep. Can anyone give some info? Or guide me to the link...
To add, I use the bike to commute and Im up at 4am, so not hating on the neighbours.
