Will it be in the bike manual (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=gsxr600+k1+manual)?

Dunno they might be, Ive just fitted forks to my curvy and want to try base settings first.
springs and oil grade = standard.
but the damping screws are all over the place.
Still work better than standard forks though.

OK I need this bloke to visit me, and push on my bike.:(

I just want to try the standard settings,If I can find them

Ive set the sag that bits easy, the compression damping is a bit more involved.:smt089

you will only get compression right by riding the bike. track riding requires different setup to street riding. learning to read your tyres is the first step in knowing whats wrong. setting the forks to the standard clicks is not going to help you one little bit apart from that are set at what they are set at.

if you dont want to learn then spend £30 and take it to someone who will set it up for you.

its not rocket science and once you get your head round it its easy.

one other thing. there is nothing you can do about bumps as that requires the shim stack to be altered so instead concentrate on the important part and that is... braking and cornering. rebound is by far the most important part get this right and your 70% there and this can be set statically. next up is compression, dont worry about trying to control dive and instead concentrate on how the bike feels mid corner and exit. once you have it somewhere you like then its just very small amounts of tweaking required. if your using a standard rear shock you might wont to set the front end a bit more lively to balance out the bike.

dont be scared to try settings from one extreme to the other and in fact i would encourage it to get a feel of what is going on. suspension is always a compromise and you will never get it perfect for all situations.

Set them in the middle of the range, then go ride. If it feels good, ride harder. If it still feels good, you lucked out. (Check your travel as you do this. Bottoming out hard on the brakes often ends badly, and it usually scares me.)

If the front doesn't feel good, add or subtract 3 clicks of compression damping and ride it again, etc.

Cycle World (I think) gives set ups that they liked on various models. Search Google for suspension settings for the year and model you have.

Standard settings for rebound and compression are turn the adjusters clockwise till they stop (gently seat it don't go mad and tightening it) then turn them anti-clockwise 1 and 1/8th of a turn so the punch mark lines up with the arrowhead.

Standard pre-load is 4 lines shown.

Standard measurement of forks through the yokes is 6mm.

Oh and the use of a zip tie around the stanchion is a great tool.

Thanks, for info
I backed screws right off, there are no clicks, so just did 1/4 turn increments back in until I guessed it to be about right.
Took it out and it didnt feel great, worse than I started with & similar to GSXF forks I had previously fitted.
gave rebound another half turn in, & now given compression 1 turn in.
Have to wait for now, saturday afternoon traffic not good for road testing.

Having those base settings to fall back on, will give me a bench mark, in case I get lost

At least Ill know where suzuki think they should work, many thanks.

I dont suppose you know what spring rate suzuki use ,I found 8.5 good in my last forks, and 9.5 too stiff.

You'll probably find those needles need to be 1-1.5 turns out otherwise they're doing fook all in terms of adjusting.
