With effect from today the paper counterpart, showing any convictions, is no longer valid. Conviction details will only be available online.

Thought I'd post up as lots of people don't seem to have heard about it. It's causing some problems today for people hiring vehicles or arranging test rides.

it will be interesting to see what they say at the dealers tonight for my test ride. I've got the paper bit with me just in case.

But the wife only has a paper one. Is this a ploy to make her apply for a 10 year renew photo one?

If you want to change to the card type licence you have to pay.
So stick with the old paper one, it's no big deal.

Nice one less piece of paper, can't imagine dealers will be too bothered its not like the piece of paper was ever gonna be particularly trustworthy but I guess that way they could prove you where lying.

It's no big deal. If you've got smart phone just do all of it on their website.

It's not difficult to remember your driver number, National Insurance number and DoB.

And if it is just call the number.

No one outside the UK gives a toss about the paper bit do they?
