21 Days to go Folks!!!

Yes its time for Dean'o to click that the GM is very close at hand and start to think about getting panicky!!!

Also the TShirt buying offer (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=217494)closes this Sunday so if you are interest in buying a GM TShirt get your orders in for close of play on Sunday night.

I'm hoping that this years GM is one of the best we've had, the route on the Saturday should be a blinder, 230+ miles of great roads (with a couple of Drop offs in the afternoon if people want to get back to the bar slightly earlier) talking of which the bar in the hotel will be a good place to be in the evening, Mark and Helen even talked about having a band brought in for the Saturday night... I can't wait*

*for it all to be over so I can chill out

I'm quite happy right now. A final confirmation trip to the hotel yesterday (I do it solely for you guys, I get no pleasure riding these roads you know ;) ) My luggage was brought out of the loft and I'm almost ready for this whole thing. Bar T-shirt 'fun' I've had nothing that's really stressed me out recently.

Just need to print of the lunch list and figure out how I'm gonna get you guys to sign it if you want the organised lunch, then its all good...

The hotel have a couple of new beers in since last years GM and plenty of Whisky so we'll get the chance to try them, they still have Trade Winds so I'm more than happy.

Also as a bonus the midges weren't to bad yesterday evening so I'm hoping that stays the same.

What's the beers then?, I'm well happy with Trade Winds but variety and all that!.

I'm wondering how much luggage a Fiesta can manage carry up the Bealach Na Ba?

How good will Sunday be if we get to do the A87 luggage free :riding:\\:D/GoPro's at the ready Alan, for some Kneedoon action (you not me :D)

Hmm there may well be some capacity for luggage haulage...

I will be luggage free fo sho! However the only kneedown action I usually get on the roads is when I fall over :)

The route is (curiously ;) ) on this thread GMVIII - The Route (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=216293). The very first post has links of both the am and pm routes which are exportable in ITN format.

Thanks Grant!

TBH I knew that thread was there with links, but for some reason I was convinced the last time I clicked those links they were to google maps and so I didn't look again (Doh!).

My Tyre software won't accept imports from google anymore. Had I looked at it, clicked on them, and seen that they were in the Motogoloco route planner, I wouldn't have asked the question.

I'm sure there were three separate offs at gm1.

One of them between the campsite and the meeting point of the pre-rideout speech on Saturday morning. Suicide Sam I think, I could be wrong?

One along the route somewhere, can't remember who or where but remember us discussing it at the stagger inn.

Oh, and the other by me. :-$
Silly 1mph drop at the wooden bridge entrance to Beinglas campsite on arrival Friday night in the peeing rain and dark. Not that I'm getting my excuses in early.

Yay!!! I love it... tbh I think Northys talk was partly instigated by me, we'd been talking about that section because I was leading the rideout and I was talking about the downhill tightening radius corners up near Oban and how I thought inexperienced riders might have a bit of a worry moment.

Fordward
09-08-15, 05:38 PM
Some experienced riders had worry moments, I cant remember exactly what happened but Speedy Claire had a dodgy moment on one corner, watching her made Sandrine on pillion do that silly little scream women do, so that made me sh!t myself and almost screwed up the same corner.

It's a brilliant Road, but there are a good few corners that tighten up and a few that turn on the crest of the hill. That's what caught out my pals. Definitely slow in and fast out on that road, especially if you haven't been on it before.

broke down on sunday for the first time on the bike so i have to test bike tonight to make sure that its not the stator/generator or the rge/rec. battery was fubar but when testing by AA the charging volts were 12.6v at 5k. got the bike home put new battery in and charging at 14.1v and battery healthy at 13.1v. so all is good but it might be something breaking down when hot. if its the stator i'm feked, if its the reg/reg i'm half feked for going on my jollys.

Bibio
10-08-15, 03:36 PM
well tested the bike and it was bad news. voltage started dropping at the battery so usual tests. stator.. ok (thank fek) so had to be the reg/rec. took the connectors off for the reg/rec and it was all furred so a quick clean later and bingo a healthy 14.2v at battery... i'm a happy happy bunny right now.

2mm? That's virtually brand new! Combatfred will probably be setting off for the entire run with no more than two small elastic bands mounted on naked wheel rims. He'll then tell you how slowly he rides, says he'll nurse it round yet still be home before you, having repeatedly stopped off for leisurely tea and scones and sightseeing jaunts along the way! Watch and learn.

I'm pretty heavily packed just now because of the suit and shoes I need for today's funeral, but my sister will be taking that back home so I'll be heading up to Scotland with a pretty much empty top box except my laptop. Right pannier is just waterproofs, spare gloves, chain lube, etc. So really I've got all my clothes for 5 days away in one left pannier.
