What's your favourite route to ride of a weekend? Probably my two favourites are:
- Macclesfield to Leek, then head to Ashbourne. Turn onto the B5053 towards Hartington, then the B5054 to the A515. Then you can either head to Buxton and then to Macc over the Cat & Fiddle, or take the A5012 to Matlock Bath and back via Bakewell & Buxton
- Macclesfield - Kettleshulme - Whaley Bridge on the B5470, then A6 past Chapel, and A523 past Tideswell, then B6465 past Monsal Head back down to the A6 to Buxton, then Cat & Fiddle again
Kirkcaldy - Blairgowrie - Braemar - Tomintoul - Aviemore - Ft William - Glencoe - Tyndrum - Creiff - Kirkcaldy.
Kirkcaldy - Selkirk - Keilder - Melmerby - Brampton - Longtown - Newcastleton - Hawick - Peebles - Kirkcaldy. i'll take in mostly back roads with this run.

@Bibio - those are proper round trips and no mistake. I think my *rs* would need to go to intensive care after doing either of those routes :D
on the sunday i'm like cinderella i dont have to be home till midnight. looks long routes but i stop every 30-50 miles so its easy.

I spent about 6 hours going around nothing but tiny twisty back roads in the peak district and it was stunning.
I also like the Yorkshire moores around Whitby
ooohhh and i'm not the only one. members on the forum come from far and wide to go on the runs.

If I fancy going south I like this (https://goo.gl/maps/YFs1Z) as a day out.
A wee morning/evening (https://goo.gl/maps/PoKWM) run.
If I'm going to Doune (https://goo.gl/maps/B7rFt) for a bit of MX watching I like taking this route.
There are plenty of other great routes up here as Bibio said.

That looks like a fun ride, how long does it usually take you to do the 127 mapped miles?
Quite a few cameras (Gatso and average speed) around here, so it's not about going fast, it's more about not slowing down ;)

Another fan of north yorks moors. Pickering to Whitby then north up to saltburn and back to south yorks on as many B roads as possible. Wonderful!! Then there's leeming bar to hawes and apple tree wick.....damn this rain lol

you have the perfect chance with the GM if not just take a long weekend and do it. remember there are only 6 million people stay in Scotland and most of them stay in the borders and central belt so the further north you go the less traffic there is. get past Inverness and its blissssss ;)
downside to staying up here is most of the road surface is like sandpaper, you end up having tooo much fun and shred your tyres so if you do get a holiday up here come up with a fresh set of tyres.
oohh did i mention the midges :(
