Unusual electrical fault

I've searched through the forum and although I can see similar faults none are helping to sort mine so here goes:

Bike lost all power at a junction after 30 mins ride, turned the bars to move and died. Thought it was shorting out (batt reads 12.93 which drops to 0.01 when ignition on) green coupler is perfect and so is the wiring into the dash. Stripped down to a rolling loom and nothing looks obvious. Checked for wear against the frame where to feeds through the front and is ok but moving these cables and dash lights up but speedo points up and if I flick kill switch off the relay chatters??? All batt connections are clean fuses OK oddly I cannot find any earth points to check? Bike has never skipped a beat in 3 yrs, any ideas please as driving me crazy.

The main battery / engine earth is at the back of the gearbox on the right side of the engine, that's worth a look.

As something happens when you flick the kill switch, it could well be worth removing the right-hand switchgear and using contact cleaner to give the kill switch and starter button mechanisms a good hosing down, although I wouldn't try and pull apart the springs & contacts in the switches - just give them a good blast, work them a few times, blast them again, work them a few more times, and reassemble.

Also, do remove the battery leads from the battery terminals and clean up the terminals until they are shiny.

Thanks Craig. Guess the earth is behind the frame?

Batt terminals are already cleaned like new. Looked in the R/H/S and all looks ok, was wondering on the ground wire in there but can't find which colour it should be?

Sorry, don't know the wiring colours so can't say which would be the ground in the switchgear :\

For the main earth, if you look at the swingarm pivot on the right hand side of the bike, the earth point is just behind that attached to a clutch cover bolt. Again, a good hosing with contact cleaner and a tighten up with a socket is worth a go.
