I've got a new Hagon mono shock and set of progressive front springs to fit to my SK5 and I'm hoping to give it a shot tomorrow.

I've got an Abba stand so there won't be any load on the swingarm.

Is there any little quirks or anything I need to be aware of or is it simply a case of unbolting the old shock and bolting in the new one?

Also for the front springs my Haynes manual says you need a table vice to properly pump out the old fork oil is this a necessity?

1. No, just unbolt the shock, I'd removed the rear wheel for easier access, so there was no load on the swingarm

2. I just turned my forks upside down and let the majority of the oil drain out & then pumped the remainder out

Done the rear shock this morning pretty simple once I'd got the breaker bar out to crack the nuts that won't have been touched since it was built, need a little gentle persuasion with a rubber mallet just to get the new shock into the top fitting apart from that nice and easy.
Feels very weird having a shock that actually moves!

I think I'll give the front springs a go in a couple of weeks when I've got another free weekend.

Yes, they are torqued up pretty tight!

Haha definitely not! Only gave it a quick run out round town today and already it feels so much better hopefully give it a proper run tomorrow

Damn. This was next on my list of things to change.
Will have to find a way of raising the funds to get myself a new rear shock without the obvious result of my wife finding out and giving my rear a decent shock!
