View Full Version : SFV650 - Which Screen?

I'm thinking about adding a screen of some sort to my SFV650. My experience of these bikes is the ones I used for DAS, which all had a small fly screen, and my own, which has nothing.

In general, my feeling is that the fly screen on the DAS bikes made a small difference, but it's hard to compare because conditions vary. On mine, I've found that, into a headwind, much more than 60mph can get a bit tiresome, although at motorway speeds yesterday in virtually no wind (5mph according to the met office), it felt okay.

I guess I'm looking for something that will make headwinds a bit more tolerable, but not sure I want to go for something that's particularly tall. My usage is mostly commuting and afternoon outings at the weekends. I'd like to try some longer runs, probably including some motorway stuff at times.

There seem to be quite a few generic screens for naked bikes, but I'm not sure how neatly they fit around the SFV headlight and instrument binnacle. Any suggestions for something that looks tidy and works well at sensible motorway speeds in a headwind?

How about the Powerbronze Light?

Size looks okay, and is more tailored to the bike than the generic ones. Also mounts to the top of the forks rather than on the handlebar.

Anyone got this?

Just realised this is probably in the wrong place - could a mod move it to Ancillaries?

Got a Powerbronze Light in clear (not a stock item, but my local shop just happened to have one). Fitting was an easy 10 minutes or so job. Haven't done a motorway run yet, but there's a noticeable difference in where the wind hits when doing 50 or so - it's almost like a boundary just below my neck.

It's a nice fit, being tailored to the bike, and is attached with brackets that bolt to the yoke tops and headlight side panel thingies rather clamps on the bars. Bigger than the little swept back fly screen things, but not at all huge.

Fitted a small Puig dark smoke screen to mine. looks nice, but haven't been over 50mph yet. My commute is generally 20mph heading on to town.

I went for the Givi Gladius-specific screen. Reasonably easy to fit and looks OK. Improves airflow though I still get a blast in the chest area above about 70mph. No buffetting around the head though. I'll try to post a pic below!

I've got the Puig flyscreen an can vouch for it at various speeds. Looks good and easy to fit. You won't be disappointed.
