I noticed a puddle of fuel under my bike the other day and on lifting the airbox I've found the front bowl to the carb has fuel in it.

The overflow pipe seems dry and while I've not yet taken the carbs out, the fuel seems to be leaking from the left side pf the carb (bike has been on its side stand so may not be exactly here). I'm a novice mechanic and am still getting to grips with the SV so not sure if there is supposed to be a means for the fuel to leave the carbs in and around this location.

Sorry for the simple questions but would this happen if the jets are blocked or something similar? The bike had been stood for a while but I had the carbs stripped and cleaned and this has happened after only about 130 miles. The mechanic did say that it felt down on power and so the fuel system may have had some more junk in it which could block the jets.

Also, whats the best way of removing spilt fuel off of the engine? The trail of fuel from the carbs down to the stator cover is a little worrying for when I fire the bike up next time!

Thanks

Could be a sticky float, i the front carb,

Just rinse the engine with water to get the worst of the fuel off. When you run the engine the rest will evaporate.

Thanks for that. I'm gona strip the carbs anyway but I'll give the engine a good wipe down to get the worst of the fuel residue off

Managed to strip and clean the carbs (with help) and found little pieces of what was probably rust. Checked the tank and the filter on the tap had broken.
New tap on order but anyone know of the best way to clean out the tank to get rid of the rest of what ever little pieces of rust are still in there?

Small ball bearings, count them in & count them out.

Do a search on here, I remember someone posting about it
