View Full Version : Anyone going to see the new Star Wars?
So, is anyone going to see it when it is released on the 18th or do you feel that it won't live up to the original trilogy?

There is only the first, so far.
Doubt all these years later that will change so I'll wait for the reviews.

Yeah totally! They have gone back to the old way of making it with minimal CGI, it's going to be epic.
Apparently so many people tried to pre book tickets that some cinemas websites crashed.

The Odeon website did crash badly, after my 10th attempt all of which failed at any point from choosing seats to credit card payment, I got in the car and drove to my local Odeon. At least once there the manager gave me a free ticket for my trouble, though I was buying 11 tickets....

I'll probably go on my birthday and take the nephews. I love the last lot of films, if you just fast forward through all the bits that don't feature Ewan McGregor waving his light sabre around they are brilliant!
I'll wait until the Chinese bloke comes round with his pile of copies 1week before it's released and watch it for 3 Euros thanks!!!

I'll go and see it - I'm sure it'll be best seen on a big screen, but I'm concerned that JJ Abrams will add some complete random bollox into it - "Lost" anyone? He has potential to kill it way more than any CGI character
Still can't get the other half to get of her lazy arise to get tickets to Ipswich I max.
Divorce on the horizon....

I don't get that. I never watch films at home. Going to the cinema is an immersive experience. Pirate DVD at home just doesn't cut it.

I fancy going to the Bradford (https://www.picturehouses.com/cinema/National_Media_Museum)to watch it... Yeah its a fair trip but I could get a curry too.

Would it alright if the price was reasonable, £15 for an imax ticket takes the biscuit though, especially if the whole family are going!
A nice 1080p AC3 video downloaded for free is pretty decent on my 55" telly with surround sound :)
That being said I'll probably take my son to see Star Wars this weekend, but it'll have been 3 months or so since the last time we went!

I showed the trailer to my 9yo daughter, and got the response "wait, what? There's another star wars film? We gotta see it!"
Brunged her up proper I did.

You're right, and where I work it's £18.50 for the Imax. £14 for standard in Chelmsford.
The most annoying thing at my local Odeon is the seats are so badly designed that smaller kids can't see the screen. You get an uncomfortable plastic booster but they still aren't high enough. I end up taking in the car seat and balancing that on top of the cinema booster. Little James laughed so hard at Inside Out on Sunday morning he fell off!

My 8 year old has banged on about it for a year now.

Crikey, i remember that. I used to date a girl whose family friends used to live there. I went to the Kinema but never actually watched a film. We used to stay in a B&B called Village limits or something like that. The other thing i remembered about Woodhall Spa was the chip shop closed at 7pm!
The cinema a bit more of an experience.
Though home projects look like a good idea.

The thing that will pizz me off, is the amount of noise from popcorn, sweet wrappers and the sound will be turned up too loud so it makes my ears bleed. But it has to be seen on the big screen, just like all the others, its just not the same on tv

I'm actually more excited about Spectre right now. I'm not really a JB fan but it's more real to me (I'm actually only 4 years old so I can only think a few days ahead...)

Ditto... I'll watch it at home only once I've seen it on the big screen.
Some of the scenes were filmed near where I live so gonna look out for those bits. I liked all of them especially the first one.. Saw it three times in a row, on a Saturday Matinee hiding from the usherettes in between kick-outs..
Now where did I put my light sabre ? ? ?
