View Full Version : March/Mapril Meat Run Dates For 2016

In an attempt to get dates agreed so early that Kenzie can't bail out, I'm putting this poll up to agree a date for the March/Mapril Meat Run (MMR) this coming spring
The one just gone happened in April (hence Mapril :)) and before that it was March so I figured dates ranging from the second week of March through to mid April would best suit.
The poll has no closing date so we'll revisit sometime in the new year once it's got enough votes onboard to make a decision fairly
Voted twice.
March and April beginning are mrs and son's bif'day's.
Who ever leads the run best use a nave with routes.
Just saying....
U Turns out in the sticks is tricky
Yeah, can we also not ride the same bit of A14 twice?

Really, there's a nice bit of the A14....I do the full length of it every week, all looks the same to me :)

Yeah, can we also not ride the same bit of A14 twice?
I noticed your vote is conspicuous by its absence......

Will they actually be holding the meat raffle on the 27th?
Its every week and keep your ticket for the big draw end of the month.
Ps its a good pub what ever the excuses.
Yes I'll go there just for the little blasts
This route again - the u turns and stuff.

Yeah, I shouldn't have put saturdays in as an option really, it's the Sunday raffle we want ;) Shall we just make the the 27th March now!? Plenty of heads up for people to make that date....
Nice bunch of people there, always welcoming, should be a good pit stop regardless
And yes, stick to the old route, but maybe be a bit more meticulous about the sat nav programming so we don't have it doing silly things...twice on the A14 isn't the normal route I don't think :)

Sorry im going shopping on that day.
Yes, turn right at the juction, will prevent a double A14 run
It's like forever notice. Last week in the month so kenzie has a chance of the cash too lol.
Oh forgotten there's a dog show.
See you later love
I'm off on my bike lol.....

If we have to shift around the dates for the weather then so be it....maybe agree on a few so we can have some flexibility?
Well the multi option idea seemed to sit well.
I work every other Saturday, so a Sunday run is better for me.

Looks like we need to make sure we have the following days free to give us room to find decent-ish weather closer the time:
Sunday March 20th
Sunday March 27th
Sunday April 3rd
Everyone good with these or are some got weekend work that may get in the way and need to pick a specific day now?
Dates look ok. Can't forsee any issues at the moment.

27th is good for me, and 20th might be ok, as i have worked extra Sunday hours in my contract to take it off.
3rd is no good, as its the start of new contract hours and I'm working.
lots going on this year, so i need to work my weekends in the early part of my contract.
3Rd April David's birthday...

Vote for 20th, 27th and the 10th April - just in case the new ice age arrives between now and mid March

Makes sense...couple yrs back it was snowing in March...
March is all out for me - just too many birthdays, anniversaries, mothers days etc etc etc...
Will vote for some April dates and hope for the best :D

I feel a couple of dates might be in order ;) I'm up for doing it more than once, maybe one ride out with the red lion and another with tubby's?
Ntec, is tubby's still a go to place in the area?
It's changed hands last year. I'll have to pop over and find out if it's open Sundays and mixed reviews last time I went was July.. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g503748-d5616161-Reviews-Tubby_T_s_Cafe-Haverhill_Suffolk_East_Anglia_England.html#rd_revi ews_section_start
OK Feb 10 knee op booked. Should be fine for the date's on the possible list still though.

We dont do Saturdays
Just saying that its going in. Not like a date has been set yet though.
Ouch..
Howling gales, ice cold rain and snow will send temperatures plummeting throughout March as the big freeze continues to grip the country.
Snow and ice is forecast for throughout this week with biting winds from the north pole sending thermometers plunging to -10ºC (14F).
And even though this week marks the beginning of meteorological spring, for most it has felt more like the start of winter."!!!!
Really? Weather has been ok here. They forecast heavy snow overnight and all we got was some frost and ice. Been a pretty poor winter tbh. I quite like snow and only seen a few flakes this year.

Thursdays forecast is 16 deg temps, I might even get to ride my pushbike in shorts :alien:
We must get round to sorting a final date, which I'm going to plump for the 10th April, just might be a bit warmer by then.

Yes that's from the met.
But it's very difficult to achieve any accuracy because of the meany factors involved.
Was and still is flipping icy cold hear.
Its looking like Sunday 10th of April is the one so far. I'm not entirely sure who's organising this but is this or another date likely to be confirmed fairly soon?

The more the merrier
Gixer is up for it. Street Triple needs a new tyre before he will commit.
Both said pending the weather of course.
People made from sugar need not apply.
We can't afford the tax burden....
Mrs Kenzie said she may attend as well depending on the weather. However she isn't too hot on corners and is worried about being left behind.
We're have a Tec with a map sorted!
Mean time Teach them to ride safe and get some miles under her belt.

I'm thinking about this. I haven't been on any organised run before so can you tell me the start point and time. Is it the old red lodge cafe? I would be coming from Long Stratton if |i come.
Usually meet at Red Lodge then head off after some scoff.
You could PM kaivalagi http://forums.sv650.org/member.php?u=13564 They will be coming from Norwich, so are near you.

I'll PM you my mobile, feel free to call
Cheers
Mav, any thoughts on meeting point for the run? Say Tesco Copdock as usual?

yep, we'll sort out a meeting time nearer the day, its a bit far off to predict what the weather is going to be like.
If its anything like last Sunday, I won't be riding in a hurricane
You joining in Heorot?

Was the link from the old thread.
But Google maps has updated the way they saved routes. So probably why it's been corrupted
I'll have to see if I can find the laptop power as tbh use tablet and mobile mostly now.
I'll need to upload it to the Tom Tom.
Hoping the weather improves for the weekend. Forecast at the moment is for rain on Sunday.
Hopping my knee improves. Up at 3am intense pain.
All I had done was walk from the multi story car park to the pier and back.....

I will coming and travelling down with Kaivalagi unless the weather is horrendous. According to the met office, the forecast for Sunday is cloudy. Hope they're right.
BBC weather says similar. Mrs Kenzie won't be joining us. Not sure about Gixer either.

weather is looking on the up for Sunday :)
Certainly is. Can't wait for the fry up!
I am hoping to attend but wont be able to confirm till the boss decides if he needs me 1st.
All set to go on the Marpril meat run this Sunday so I took the bike around the block today to see if there were any problems. There is. When I got back, I saw rainbows on my drive. So now I have 2 days to find and fix the oil leak.
Update.
It turns out that it's a corroded oil pipe and needs to be replaced. I have ordered a replacement, but it won't arrive until Monday so I can't do the Marpril meat run this Sunday. Bummer!
OK Well there's lots of other weekend's.
ACF 50 the engine after you've done.
