Daughter's Clio is like a swimming pool at the moment. Tons of stuff about dodgy sunroof seals and drains on Youtube. Looks like I'll be resealing it over the holidays. Tape poly over the sunroof if it has one and see if it dries out. Use towels, then wood pellet cat litter to dry is out.

My old Cavalier was getting soaking wet carpets, as the drain for the heater air box was blocked up, so it filled up with water and drained into the outlets for the hot air, soaking the carpets.

Lynne's clio leaked like a sieve through the paper sun roof seal. It was a bit of a faff to remove it as you have to pull the head lining out the way to get at the dozen bolts. But probably an hours work to remove, apply a ring of silicon and refit. 2 years later, I was in the car yesterday. (Hasn't moved for over a year whilst we wait for daughter no2 to get round to passing her test so exposed to plenty of wet lately) and it is still bone dry.
Tip no 2, whilst you have to roof out. Blow an air line down the drain tubes to clear any potential blockage.

If the drain tubes are blocked they will leak no matter what you do.
On the discovery there are 3 ways they leak... a) the "cups" that connect the drains to the sunroof tray need resealing b) the flange of the sunroof itself needs sealing c) the drain tubes are blocked and this means the tray fills up and overflows inside.
All just time and a bit of sikaflex to sort it out :)
Turns out it's loads more fun to do in summer with a few beers than it is to do in mid january in freezing sleet and driving wind. Hey ho.

Tell me about it Tim. I've had to do nearly every fix for Clios on the forum (http://www.renaultforums.co.uk). Only last week I was fixing the earths on the rear clusters in the pouring rain. Most of the jobs are cheap or free to do though. I think my favourite free job was the washers not working and my favourite cheap job is reluctor rings, but I've only done one side. still had to change the sensor to get the light off, but a Bosch one was only £7 from Andrew Page.

Ok, so not been on here yesterday. It turns out Renaults are **** - 3 kids Scenic perfect for lugging us all around in.
Scuttle Panel. Blocked drain plug equals water ****ing into your footwell. ******s. A real common issue with Renaults. ******s.
Bit fiddly but easy to do. Under numerous bits of plastic, plus the wiper motors is a drain hole. In my case everything looked spotless. Only got the car 2 months ago, so they valeted the **** out of it. However they didn't remove the plastic parts or the motors.
Both sides now unblocked, hoping that sorts it. They weren't totally sealed up, so under normal rain flow would fill up but drain in time. Motors both a little corroded to show submersion.
However it really ****ed down Sat in Stansted.
Now just got to wait for the car to dry out. Fingers crossed that's it sorted. I don't have a sunroof so next on the list would be the screen - Autoglass quoted £130 to take it out and put it back in. Not covered under insurance. Renualt apparently charge £150 to clear the drain plugs. 45 mins work for someone who had never done it before. ******s.

Yes, done a reluctor, I was away over christmas in north yorkshire when it went, WTF first time you press the brake and the ABS goes luney. Like you say a couple of quid for something Renault would have you believe you have to replace the drive shaft for!!!
Other favorites, coil pack, washer pumps. But it has also done the very helpful electrical fault. Cleaning out the throttle body and reseating the electrics under the armoured connector seems to have helped although I couldn't see a problem (Other than limp mode) in the first place.

shiftin_gear if you have a "range" store near you they do some chemical dehumidifiers pretty cheap. Maybe worth a go.

Word of advice. Don't spill a bag of bird seed in any of the damp areas unless you want sunflowers, peanuts and corn growing inside your car.
My bird seed in a flimsy bag, a mate's old leaky car. He went on holiday for 2 week's and when he got back it was less Ford Escort, more Kew Gardens.

Ok so this might have reared it's head to bite me again today.
No flood however the passenger side wiper has died on the way into work - same side that flooded. Thankfully it wasn't my wife driving with the kids nor a long trip.
With the wiper arm removed it still moves now and then, but doesn't seam to have the power anymore to drag the wiper across the window.
So far I can't see anyone who makes a patent part. I have found a company selling Renault ones for £190.00.
OMO what would you guys/girls do.
Take it to Renault - and get shafted.
Take it to a local garage - possible get shafted.
Take a punt and buy the one for £190.00 - potentially get shafted.
It doesn't look very serviceable.
Dreading this being the first of many electrical issues.
I'd go on ebay or breakers for parts. This local guy just does renaults Lester Reclaim Spares Ltd 01375 855511. I can pick up and post it for you if he doesnt

My dad had two Granadas and a Cortina that used to fill up in either the boot or the footwell, when it rained, so he drilled a hole in the boot and floor.
He likes old boats that take on water. His Audi filled with water in the passenger side footwell, but before he did anything old school his marvellous daughter looked on the interweb thingy and opened the bonnet, to show him he had his very own fish tank behind the engine.....
And all he had to do was pull out the plug at the back :-D

My Cavalier had a similar fish tank in the engine bay, used to fill up the rear passenger footwells, until I cleaned out the drain :smt046
