This was posted up on the NC forum.
Judging by the queues of traffic I can only guess at how long they had been sitting in their cars looking at this before the biker decided something had to be done. Just goes to show what folk are like these days.

Well done that man, and I hope the lady gets the help she needs.

Crazy, I mean the people sat there doing nothing.

Shame, but yes well done to those who finally acted.

Ridiculous, however, it sums up the 'not my problem' attitude that's becoming all too common.

It's a little disappointing that nobody had seen fit to approach her however you have to appreciate that at the moment there is a bit of reluctance amongst an awful lot of people to go anywhere near anybody acting strangely, especially if they are of foreign appearance.

Doesn't make it right, but it might explain why nobody wanted to make the first move.

A guy I know is a paramedic,One of his colleagues who was off duty saved a woman's life when she had something happen to her in the next town to where I live. He opened her jacket and top left her bra on and performed cpr for 20 minutes while waiting for the ambulance. She brought him to court for exposing her. That's the type of thing that has people the way they are

I do hope the judge throwed that out of court as fast as it came in

It is sad but all to common

I remember many years ago as a young copper we had to provide emergency cover during the ambulance strikes of the time. All we had was a stripped out police riot van (so basically all the rear seats removed) an army issue folding stretcher and a first aid kit. We used to take turns being the driver or the "technician".

One of our very first calls was to a nightclub where a very attractive young lady had basically collapsed and was unconscious. We put her on the stretcher, loaded her up into the back of the van and my colleague sets off at warp factor nine for the nearest hospital.

I'm sure you can picture the scene with me straddling this young lady to stop her rolling off the stretcher and holding on with one hand and with the first aid book open in the other, and I get to the bit where it said "remove any restrictive clothing...."

Fortunately she didn't wake up until we got to the hospital!

WTF. How on earth does human nature allow people to sit in their cars when they see a body in the road?? Instinct is not kicking in with these people.

Agreed.
I think this played a major part in this incident, being honest, I'd have been very wary in that scenario too, I know virtually nothing of first aid etc so that would've been a factor on my part too.

It was quite shocking to see though, especially someone trying to harm themselves.
