stator/gen

is the above prone to fail on a 99 650. the bike will cut out with a clunk from time to time. battery is only reading 12.81 on tickover. new battery and reg/rec fitted. any help please

Not massively common but it has been known

You need to check AC Voltage going into the reg rec from the generator

The reg/rect isn't great so could well be that/ After two died I invested in an Electrex one which is newer technology and much more reliable.

AC voltage from the stator should be more than 75VAC across each pair at 5000rpm with it disconnected form the reg/rect
