Hi

I have a 52 plate curvy SK2 I think it is

I did an oil and filter change and now the oil pressure light is staying on.

Drained oil and redid it today and no sign of any metal bits in old oil.

The pressure switch has been replaced and I have checked level with bike upright and it is on full (just under)

I had to do some work on the block connector under the Lhs fairing as had no headlights

Is there anything I can do to check what is causing the problem I can see that when I run the bike the oil disappears from the window then comes back again.

Don't really have access to anything other then usual tool box kit so what am I looking at in labour or is a replacement engine the way to go.

I only have about £650 in the bike so have some room for repairs before it gets silly but am kind of stuck.......

Cheers James

If this fault started when you changed the oil then it's far more likely to be down to something you have done, rather than a "fault" with the bike.

Firstly it's not at all unusual for the oil pressure light to stay on for about 10 seconds after the initial start up after an oil and filter change. This is because the pump takes a while to fill the filter and associated oil ways before it can generate pressure.

If it stays on beyond that the first thing I would suspect is the oil filter. Is it definitely the right one?

Maybe this could cause your issue?

I'd agree with RH, its something that's happened during the oil change

Hi yes used a pattern filter as bought oil & filter as a kit from ebay.

I will get a geniune suzuki one and fit that and see what happens

Dont bother with OEM, I have never had one, always used Hilo Filtro.

Itll be something else, I dont know what but buying a new filter is a waste of money IMO.

My first thought was had you knocked the wire off the pressure switch whilst changing the filter?

And then maybe the pressure switch current is going to ground without passing through the switch thereby illuminating the light. Maybe at the switch end but maybe at the connector you have had problems with.

Thanks switch is connected both ends so i will also look at chasing the wire all the way back to the cluster.

I did fiddle about with a few wires and connector blocks while diagnosing the headlight issue so we retrace back what I did and see if that makes any difference.

Hi

I had a similar problem recently.

Check to see if you have an air lock in the filter.

To do this, loosen the filter and turn engine over until oil is pumping out of where the filter goes. Re tighten the oil filter and check oil light.

Cheers

I'd second this.
Never had a problem with HF138 filters and I must have used maybe 50 of them over the years.
