I'm sure there must be a thread or two on this but I can't find it.
I have an 03 pointy with the grey engine paint. .. I'm having the usual flaking and bubbling issues.... I've learned that I need to strip back, etch prime, enamel and lacquer.
Which paint should I use for colour matching?
Which lacquer should I use? Is it the satin?
Thanks
I tried to find this answer a while back as well. Never found it. I don't think it's a published code.

I've used plasticote enamel and it lasted years and was fine

Thanks Andrew.
Can you remember the exact colour you used?... And was it a good match?
I used B52 PEWTER Plastikote water based enamel on my old 2001 curvy engine. It matched up and wore really well. Got mine off eBay for about a fiver for a small glass pot. All I did was remove any loose paint, gently prep with a bit of fine wet and dry and then dabbed it on with a small artist brush. Did need a couple of coats to cover but it dries in no time.

I used the black as it was on a black motor

I am having the same problem with my motor. Would be interesting to see how you prep
it and how it looks after.
Is this the stuff?

Yes, that's the same one I used. I don't have the bike anymore so can't post pictures. Majority of my painting was needed where road muck from the front wheel had been thrown up and worn away the finish, so towards the front and underneath the engine.
I used Halfords wheel paint. Not a perfect match but better than white fluff.
Will give it a go. Will need some fine wet and dry I take it?
Just had the paint arrive, got to find time now.
