View Full Version : Remapping on brand new bike

I'm buying the new Africa Twin, and (obviously) I'm going to change the exhaust.

However, I will probably leave the UK on the bike before I hit the 600-mile first service interval.

If I buy a full system (pipes and can) I will presumably need a remap.

Is there any issue doing this before I get the first service done? I assume there will be lots of hard revving done in a remap which is a strong no-no from Honda before the bike is completely run-in.

It might be restricted until you take it for the first service. Tuners might not want to remove this because it will void your warranty

Wow... they do that? I mentioned doing the first service myself and the dealer didn't say anything. Do you know how I can check except going and asking the dealer in person? That's difficult because I live in Rome and am flying to the UK when the bike is ready..

I don't know for sure, but that's what my Aprilia had. Probably best to ask the dealer or a Honda forum. It could be easy to de-restrict yourself if you know how

There is *some* opinion on the internet (that's what the internet's for, right? Giving your opinion. And porn, of course....)

Anyway, the opinion is to thrash the bike, on a dyno. As soon as you get it.

Personally, I haven't a clue, but please post pics/comments as you go along.

Yeah I know all about this "idea", and I will leave it as an "idea" until the geniuses who design, engineer, and build the bike tell me to do otherwise. I don't know how anybody can be stupid enough to ignore the people who created something so intricate it seems like an impossible feat of engineering, and listen to some random bloke they've never met on the internet.

Just email Honda if you are fitting an approved kit.
If not your on your own.
Running in.
Lots of urban myths.
Personaly I done the..
Pick it up, let it get to its running temperature.
Then bed in the rings by giving the engine load
Change the oil at 300 miles
Been fine with all my car's and the triumph's
