Saw this on FB, Michelin PR4.

On Saturday I noticed a thin dark line all around the outside diameter of my practically new PR3, should I be concerned, is that line normal for these tyres?

Cool....a dual purpose tyre, ride to the track as normal...then peel the outer skin off...et voila....a slick for the track!

Brilliant,

looks like it is just a molding mark, nothing to be worried about

Just done my second set of PR4's brilliant tyre, just about to buy the third set.
Don't worry about it. Who knows what he did to it to do that.

I've had my Michelin tyres show marks like that and its never been an issue.

Don't let 99% of the panic everyone nonsense on faceache worry you, it's bull.

That riders got to have done something daft like doing doughnuts to have done that to a tyre. Yours looks normal as the others have said.

The line is a stripe to discharge static electricity from the bike to the ground - see the Michelin website for more info if you're still worried http://moto.michelin.co.uk/advice/faq/about-the-design-and-composition-of-michelin-tyres

"I NOTICE THERE’S A LINE RUNNING RIGHT ROUND MY MICHELIN TYRE: WHAT IS IT?

This line is called a “stripe”.
A vehicle, charged with static electricity, must be able to discharge it into the ground. As the tyre is the only point of contact between the vehicle and the ground, the regulations insist on a minimum level of conductivity in tyres.

The “stripe” on the tread is a thin fine band of rubber conductive enough to enable the vehicle to discharge its static electricity into the ground.

This peculiar feature in the tread has no effect whatsoever on the performance of the tread."

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing is photoshopped.

Can't help but think it's meant to be a funny dig following the recent issues in the championship
