Does anyone have the Suzuki recommended tightening torque figure for the rear footrest hanger to rear subframe bolts on a 2012 pointy please. I could just do them up by feel, but if there is a torque figure given by Suzuki I would be interested to know it. I have had a search but can't find a figure. I think the bolts are a different size on the curvy too.

There's no specific torque for that part but IIRC they're M6 bolts and the recommended general torque for those from Suzuki is 4lbft for conventional bolts.

your more likely to strip the threads using a torque wrench. do it up by feel.

Yes I know. You are right, and the only times I have stripped threads a couple of times in the past have been whilst using a torque wrench. I won't use one for small fixings and also only if I know the wrench is working accurately. I do however like to see what is recommended as a tightening torque for a particular fixing and how this differs from the generic figure.
Life was simpler when the only advertised figure was for the cylinder head etc. wasn't it. We just got on with it and I for one was more confident as a result. Enjoyed working on the old bikes I have had without any published torque figures. Too much information these days.

Thank you for your reply Tom, much appreciated. I have searched the net and manuals etc without finding the answer.
Haven't dismantled it yet but pretty sure the bolts are M8 and will need more than 4lbs ft. Just mentioning that in case someone searches this thread in the future.

There's a section in the service manual PDF with the torque values. I've not got a link to it as I'm at work but if you search for sv650 service manual pdf you should find it.

Thank you for the table Bibio, I like that.

Re the Suzuki manual Tom, I have seen several Suzuki manuals for various year models of SV which include lists of torques published by Suzuki but no reference to the rear footrest hanger mounts. I am surprised there isn't a comprehensive list of torques for the chassis fixings such as Honda produce.
I suppose the fall back position is to use the generic figures for the fixing size. I am inclined to use feel in that case.

Thank you for your replies.
