i use bikesure.

unlike other companies my insurance goes down every year and no fighting trying to get a better deal. ok so i could get it cheeper if i looked around but my bike is silly modded so not worth the hassle. i have had a theft claim with them and they were great.

I just insured mine with Bennetts for £121. First time with them, no idea if they are good, bad or ugly, but price seemed fair as it is just over 5 years since I rode a bike so they started me off at zero NCB total excess £200. I'm 62.

Ok, thanks everyone. Going to give Bennett a ring. MCE just have far too many bad reviews!

Bennetts NOOOOOOOOO.... Their the tossers who nearly did me over.

Now with Hastings Premier - same cover way cheaper.

I'm with Bennets this year, seemed the cheapest, ive changed bike twice though since taking the policy and they charged me £32 admin fee both times

probably a norm these days with all companies but just a heads up

Hastings screwed me by failing to auto renew. I only found out when I got a nasty letter from the DVLA about having no insurance. I called them and they said whoops our fault, we cancelled the auto renew but have no notification from you to do so!

They renewed immediately at slightly reduced price and I asked what would have happened in a claim or prosecution for no insurance and they say they would have covered me as they were at fault. But I doubt it as I guess they would argue that as I had not been issued with a certificate. I should have checked.

Apart from TamSV - who is a gent.

I guess they are all a bit iffy. There is no customer value on anything these days.
We are all just cash cows.

You pay your money to whoever, and pray you never have to ring them.

Hastings screwed me...
Hastings also won't let you buy your bike back if it gets written off. If you let them take it away to assess it, you may never see it again.

Just to put that in perspective, I refused to let them take it, spent £15 on some new levers and hey presto it's back on the road.

Does anyone think it's worth getting a petition up to force the insurance company to post/email/ carrier pigeon your proof of ncd.
Carol Nash and Mce are a nightmare to get it out off them.

Why in this day and age we have to send off a piece of paper for this when they all swap information about us and claims, etc. is ludicrous. It's like any institution we entrust money to, they are notably only interested in making more money and customer care is very secondary. That's why they get someone else to do that part, even if it's a firm of solicitors, because even they have more idea of customer service than any insurance company!
The less money I spend on insurance (not legal cover, note) the happier I am.
Bikesure... for now, probably not next year, the wheel will no doubt return to Bennett's et al in due course!

Devitt DA for me, another one where it kept on going down, it's now down to 90 quid fully comp for a 52 year old in my case - and I doubt it will drop any further

Hmmm renewal time for me too. Hastings are £25 more expensive for renewal than cheapest on Confused.com (Bennets) so should get them down close to that....

BUT all of them have a compulsory excess of £350 or more! Whats that all about? I haven't claimed in 9 years, so it shouldn't be that - I live in a low crime area and do relatively few miles these days... How can I get the excess down to a reasonable level? No point in being insured if it costs me a load of cash if the worst happens!

NTECUK

Yes I had this issue with Carol Nash.
They would not move and tried to sell another insurance for the excess!!
Bennet's had a policy that was just as good coverage with £150 excess and £25 cheaper...

H&R were competitive on price, but still £300 compulsory excess. The cheeky *******s tried to sell me 'Insurance Excess Insurance'!!! WTF??? Why do I need insurance against my insurance excess??? Isn't that called motor insurance? Bunch of ****!

No it's called "agreeing" but it's a bit of an alien concept these days, granted.

just checked my insurance and i pay £130 FC with £200 compulsory £0 voluntary with protected no claims on a modified SV650. only stipulation is if i have an accident/stolen the bike is classed as OEM.

BTW word of warning about Direct Debit insurance, sometimes this is technically a loan so if you cancel/claim you might have to pay the outstanding premium back so best to check before you agree. if you pay in full and you cancel before the end then they have to give you the balance back. i got caught out with this yeeeaaars ago when i had to cancel a car insurance policy that was on DD so i now pay in full.

Finally got my letter from Carol Nash nearly a month's delay....

Need to find some separate breakdown cover now as that policy doesn't have it as an option on bikes over 15 years old.

I did a test for my GSXR with H&R. A tad expensive at £98 considering I have 9 years NCB, garaged, low risk and 56 years old. But WTF £350 excess. That is taking the P.

MCE policy's have £600 excess

I know, what's the point of comprehensive insurance if a claim costs so much?

Because your bikes worth over £10K.....

I don't agree with high excess like 500 or 600 but if your bike is worth I don't know say like 3grand plus and the cost of repairs are like 1500+ I think that's a lot cheaper to pay than the actual cost of repair, I mean that's just my opinion,

I've had a thought.
Lots of people have a shock when they find their premium has shot up. Maybe I could offer to insure them against that.

You take out your bike insurance and then also take out insurance hike insurance at the same time. This then insures you against your insurance premium going up massively next year.

Unfortunately it's not profitable to insure against something that's guaranteed to happen.
