Is there anyone in the Birmingham area that would be willing to have a quick look/ride of my bike and give me some advice on the engine?

I'm a bit far away but what seems to be wrong?

It's rattlier than I think it ought to be, and the throttle seems quite lumpy.

The first things I'd do would be cleaning or replacing the air filter, replace the plugs and then balance the carbs. While you're at it, oil the throttle cables and linkages. If it's still lumpy and rattly after that, come back and let us know.

Thanks. Plugs and air filter were changes about 500 miles ago, so I'll concentrate on the carbs and throttle.

Long story short, one of the screws in the front carb had come loose. I believe that it was found inside the float chamber, leading to some intermittent fuel starvation.
Had the bike back for just over a week, and it's been going nicely.
