Well, I suppose it had to happen someday but fortunately it was fairly low speed.
Travelling along an NSL A road and turning right at a T junction onto a B road. Nothing coming; mirrors, indicate, shoulder check, turn, bang. Didn't see the camouflaged gravel and the back wheel just slid away. The leathers, thighpad and gloves did their job so I was fine. Crash bungs were worth their weight in gold too. No serious damage or scratches to the bike at all. Just a busted brake pedal, a smashed bar end and mirror.
So annoyed I didn't see the gravel as I'd spent the whole day avoiding it, along with potholes, farmer's crud and tar bands

Argh, sorry to hear that. I fear falling of my old curvy as they will write it off.

Aye, chalk it down to experience I think.
Blapper, fear not, parts are usually plentiful and the SV isn't too difficult to fix up.

Ouch! Glad you're ok. I replaced the gear pedal on my curvy with one of those spring loaded folding jobbies some time back after a similar off broke the original pedal.

Glad you're OK, it's just one of those things. I can second that crash bungs are worth their weight in gold - my SV fell hard off its sidestand after I stopped to help a biker by the roadside (so much for karma ). Cracked indicator lens (fixed with superglue) and broken toe-piece on the gearlever (welded for a fiver). Not a scratch anywhere else, not even on the clutch lever and bar end.

One thing I have noticed riding the SV compared with my old GT380 is, the fatter tyres on modern bikes don't cope with gravel on the road etc as well as the skinny tyres on the triple used to.

I did that.

Someone reversed into me in a carpark knocking the bike over and while the folding tip was fine the actual lever arm just snapped half way instead

At least a broken tip can be bodged with a drill and a bolt.

bad luck m8. glad to hear your ok.

i dont like those folding gear levers as they rip shizz out your boots as well as having a tiny shifter.

Has anyone tried the brake pedals with the folding toe pegs? Plenty on ebay but not many OEM pointy ones.
On this occasion though, a folding one might not have helped. The bike fell on its right, slid left and the brake pedal bent outwards and snapped.
Another endearing feature of the SV is the weight. I could practically pick it up one-handed.

original new one from your suzuki dealer is just under £50.

one of the first things i look at are gear and brake pedals along with other telltale signs that a bike has been down the road.

Looks like that might be the way to go.

Surprisingly expensive! I don't know how it differs from other models, or some GSXRs - I have a GSXR one on my curvy but had to drill the end hole out a little. Wonder if you can pick one up in China?

It wouldn't surprise me. A lot of aftermarket parts seem to come from Shenzhen.
