Can I use my datatool bike charger on my 2.0 petrol Scenic? Or will it not be man enough. Smart charger no external adjustment. Thanks.

It'll do it, but it'll take AAAGES. Overnight won't be enough, unless you just want enough charge to get the thing started, and plan to idle it for say 10 or 15 mins.

With less than 1 amp max current it will probably need 24 hours, it does say batteries up to 50Ah (medium size car battery in their advert). Some battery chargers that are smart need to sense a terminal voltage on a battery before they will charge it, that is why you can touch the charger leads together and they won't spark and will not send current to the battery if the + and - leads are connected to battery the wrong way. These chargers will not even start to charge a flat battery because it has none or very low terminal voltage.
If this happens you can connect a second battery in parallel with flat battery and charge them both until flat battery has enough voltage to activate the charger on its own. From experience if you switch off one of these chargers at the mains but leave it hooked up to battery it will flatten the battery due to current drawn by detection circuitry.

From instructions it looks as though datatool will try to recover a flat battery.
