new tankbag for a plastic tank

I have a new bike and it has a plastic tank, so my magnetic tank bag isn't going to work on it (plus it is getting old now so it is probably time for a new one anyway). I've never bought one to go on a plastic tank before, so can you guys please point me in the direction of something that will do the job that I need and for it to not be too expensive. my current one is a buffalo jobbie that has an extension that can be removed from the top of the bag if you're not needing a hue amount of space (although i'm not too bothered about having this as I have only ever used it once I think!), but it does have the ability to zip off the main "pocket" and just use a map case that is attached at the bottom (which I do find to be a very useful feature).

Check out the Bagster range. They do a universal mount that is not a full cover but provides the standard anchor points. You then have the run of their different bags.

Ive seen ones that have a mount around the tank filler, bolts on, and the tank bag is on a quick release.

Might be Givi that make them?

Yes, it's Givi - I have one - but the OP said not too expensive which rules them out. They are very expensive for their size.

you're right, I did say not too expensive, but if they are that good I may well have a look at them at least. i'm still open to just about any suggestion, it's an area I need help in, so am willing to at least look.....

I like the convenience of the Givi, don't like the funnel piece that lives on the bike even when the bag isn't in use, do like the fact that my lovely paint isn't marked by it in use, didn't like the price but was lucky enough to get a tenner off for buying the ex-display unit. That's it really. Not the biggest bag around by a long way, but the most convenient for sure.

I like the way the full tank Bagster covers gives you something for your knees to grip on to whilst protecting your tank paint. I was getting scuff marks on the GSX-F and very little grippage before I added the cover.

Hunt around the forums for your new bike Chris as you may get a good used one - I got one for my Curvy from here and then passed it on to another Organ when I changed bikes. The bags are all interchangeable so you take those with you. My Minea bag is a good size for a day out and expands for a weekend trip.

I have the full Bagster cover and that works very well for me, protecting the paint as well as an easy mount for the bags. I have a universal bagster dooberry too. That works ok (haven't had it on the SV) but I found that it is necessary to protect the tank with gaffer tape to stop scratches and marks as the universal mounting straps leave the tank paint exposed. I have not looked back since getting my first Baglux. Good kit.

Baglux is the company that sells/distributes Bagster products in the UK. Very helpful people - when I was looking at getting a cover for the GSX-F I asked about colour matches and they sent me a sample piece to see if it was right before ordering.

Not hugely expensive but not cheap. They do an adapter thing that you can use any of the dry packs on as a tank bag, might be similar to the universal bagster kit mentioned before.

Not sure any of them have a clear bit for maps though.

However most of the stuff is like lego so you can stack them up

Had one for years worked well. I used a orienteering one on top of my bag.
