This test is to ascertain your mental state now. If you get one right you are
doing ok, if you get none right you better go for counseling. (I'll meet you there.)

Giraffe Test

The correct answer: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things
in an overly complicated way.




Elephant Test

Did you say, Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator? Wrong Answer.

Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think
through the repercussions of your previous actions.

Lion King Test


3. The Lion King is hosting an Animal Conference. All the animals attend ... except one. Which animal does not attend? [cid:part3.

Correct Answer: The Elephant. The elephant is in the refrigerator. You just put him in there. This tests your memory.


Okay, even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your true abilities.

Crocodile Test


4... There is a river you must cross but it is used by crocodiles, and[cid:part4.8B0FBED1.A08160D1@johntill.co.uk] you do not have a boat.
How do you manage it?











Correct Answer: You jump into the river and swim across. Haven't you
been listening? All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Conference. This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes.



According to Anderson Consulting Worldwide, around 90% of the Retirees they tested got all questions wrong, but many preschoolers got
several correct answers. Anderson Consulting says this conclusively proves the theory that most Retirees do not have the brains of a four-
year-old.

I got 3/4 however that's only because the given answer to question 4 is incorrect. The best way to cross the crocodile infested river it to walk a little bit further down and cross using the bridge; I don't want to get wet do I!

I only got number two wrong, but that's because the person writing the questions failed to appreciate that as a retiree I can afford two fridges. Incidentally they also forgot to tell me to take all the beer out first in case the giraffe drank it which only goes to show that as a four year old they have much to learn about some of the more obvious consequences in life.

Those questions have been around for a long time, and if an adult and a four year old both saw the world in the same way I would be worried for the future of mankind (I am anyway, but for different reasons).

Most adults tend to overthink things and look at multiple scenarios before deciding what the question actually means and this can cause problems - most kids just say the first thing that comes into their heads ( if you asked a kid how do you put a jumbo jet into a refrigerator they would probably still say open the door, put the jet in and then close the door). The first thing an adult would think is, no way is a refrigerator big enough to hold a giraffe or an elephant or a jumbo jet, and that animals would not have a meeting in the jungle because it would never happen in the real world as they all are either predator or prey and you can't group them together.

I like the analogy between a computer hard drive and the human brain, the more information there is on the hard drive the longer the access time, most peoples brains could do with a good defrag to get rid of the sh!t we are bombarded with every waking hour that is cluttering it up.

Also it is a sad fact that people can be trained to do well in IQ tests because there are only so many puzzles that come up time and again in slightly different formats - and people can be trained to think in a way that will get them good marks even though they are dimmer than a 25watt (filament, not LED) light bulb at most things.
