SV650S 1999 for sale - 2800 miles from new!

I've decided to sell my recently acquired SV650S. I'll post photos shortly but here are some vital details.

Located near Launceston (Cornwall) about 15 minutes from the A30.

Just 2800 miles from new (verified via DVLA and last MOT in 2006 showing 2300 miles).

Blue/Silver. I've totally overhauled the calipers, pistons polished on lathe, new seals and a couple of new pistons. New pads back and front, new fluid, colour coded braided brake lines on the front.

Engine runs well. New anti freeze etc. Filter and Oil change.

New DID Chain

New Tyres

New Battery

New Speed sensor (?) in front wheel.

Just want to gauge interest first but I'm looking for a decent price (SENSIBLE suggestions welcome!) - I'll stick it on Ebay but thought I'd see if anyone wants a virtually new curvy. PM me if you are interested.

Forum rules state you need to put a price. I'd suggest £1500. It's not virtually new, it's nearly 18 years old :)

OK, well it's virtually unused! :-) - £1750 I think, judging by others I've seen advertised. Thanks for the heads up on providing a price.

In the nicest possible way have you seen any sell for that or just seen them advertised for that?

A lot of people massively overestimate the value of their bike and it seems even worse with old SVs for some reason.

It's a near 18 year old budget bike that's been laid up for 10 of them if the last MOT was the last time it was used, to me that's not a good thing. That's 10 years of sitting seizing up.

I'd say L3nnys estimate is the top end of what you might actually be able to get for it if you find the right buyer and wait until the weather picks up.

You may be right Tom_e. I think I'll advertise it on the dreaded Ebay and see what comes, possibly when the weather becomes more inviting. It runs well in fact. I've been right through it mechanically. The real problem was seized brake calipers, necessitating a couple of new pistons. I've obviously resealed all of them. The original tyres were like wood! I have a fair margin in it but I obviously want the best price. I'm actually looking for a F650GS BMW to ride down to Spain on so I'm flogging off some of my somewhat eclectic collection of bikes!

To be fair, you can debate the value of a bike till the cows come home but at the end of the day it's worth what someone will pay for it.

I regularly see curvys listed for prices approaching £3000 so someone must be paying those prices.

My feeling exactly! I've found that Ebay seems to create a fever sometimes. I once sold a canoe that I'd bought for £200. Didn't suit me so I was hoping to recoup my money; two people got into a bidding war and ended up at £600+! It was embarrassing, the bloody thing was only worth £200.

I bought a CBR400 a couple of years ago, it was kind of working when I bought it, it was definitely broken when I sold it. Made £400 profit :)
