Just wondering if anyone knows how you'd identify if parts contain asbestos? I'm working on my 250, cleaning out the drum brake on rear wheel, checking pads and bearings etc and it occured to me that the pads might contain asbestos? It's a 1983 CB250rsd model. It has 40,000 miles on it so I'm guessing they;re not the orignal shoes it came with, especially as they have a fair amount of life left in them.

I've looked up the model number that's written on the shoes but can't find any info.

It's for peace of mind really as I'd already started working on it before I thought about it. I'd also triple bag and dispose of them if they did contain asbestos rather than just put it back together.

Cheers for any help.

You can't tell just by looking at it, no matter how experienced you are. It needs to be tested professionally.

Only way you can tell is by getting a sample tested.
Anything manufactured after 2000 shouldn't have it in*

* If manufactured in Europe
