As title. After a stock box as the one on presently is a sports and loud, too loud to be starting the bike up at half 6 in the morning when I will soon be using it to commute on.

Thanks

Ryan

Has your can got a baffle in it?

Getting the old header pipes off can be a big hassle with the front studs snapping off at the slightest provocation.

You can reduce the noise by fitting a DbKiller into your can if it doesn't have one. Or get a quieter can, like a Fuel

You could probably get one on Ebay, I brought a Scorpion for £30, it was a bit noisy, my Fuel end can is nice

Hi, don't think I can fit a db killer to mine and it looks empty shining a light down into it. It's a one piece unit and does not look like a way I could get into it without cutting it open

Db killer or similar goes in the end , not inside, so long as the can has a little section of pipe.

You might need to drill a small hole in the exit pipe to pass the db killers fixing bolt.

But I'd go for BB's standard can, nice and quiet, you'll need a link pipe, ebays for that

Thats why its so fecking noisy, i followed The Mighty Boosh on a ride out with a can like that, gave me a feckin headache and you could hear it 2 counties away

I dont understand the logic of making it so loud, its even unpleasant for the rider

Do you have a link for the DB killer? I'm intrigued how they work. This is the exhaust currently on

What link pipe?

Don't get me wrong, I love a loud can, you should hear the ones on the V8 Jag! But at least inside the Jag they are not as loud so it doesn't bother me. The one on the SV is great on a day out to North Wales, can't beat the sound of it. Starting it up at half 6 in the morning though is a different matter!

I'd like to have the standard can on for daily commuting and once the weekend hits I will swap it over for when the fun begins

What link pipe?

As your header pipe was probably cut to fit your end can, you'll need a re connecting pipe to reattach an original OEM silencer

Many that's for the help. I will measure up the hole later and see what diameter I require. May go for a db killer as alot cheaper and a lot less hassle than swapping the exhaust over all the time.

I'll let you all know

Its heavy and worth the thick end of very little so probably better to go with your DB killer first.
As to making a noise early I find keeping the revs down and riding off slowly as soon as I start it isnt too much.Leaving it warming up then riding off like you stole it makes for poor relations with the neighbours.:-$

You could consider looking at the packing (if any). Drill out the rivets and it should come apart. You can get different types of packing material at very reasonable prices, like this for example http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/exhaust-accessories/acousta-fil-exhaust-silencer-packing

Even a straight through inner perforated pipe shouldn't sound stupidly loud if properly packed, usually only if it's empty or the packing has collapsed.

Cheers mister c. I've measured up the diameter of the pipe and bought a db killer. This one
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/151371055876

Hoping its the right one and fits. If its still too loud I will take yours. Can you pm a price?

Thanks, Ryan

Hi thanks for the offer. The db killer I bought works a treat and has really quietened down the sound to an acceptable level, so I'm going to stick with for now. At least if I ever get the urge to really pee off the neighbours at half 6 in the morning, a 10mm nut is all it takes :D
