Hi Guys,

Does anyone have a link for for the colour codes with pictures for gen 2 bikes?
I can't seem to tell the difference between YKY and YC2......

Since my bike is going to need a respray, I want to get the colour right.
(Can't find the tag under the seat/tank)

Is there maybe a site where we can run the vin number and get the original paint colour?

On a secondary note, any recommendations on decal kits?

Thank you.

I don't know, but I'm pretty sure mine was printed on a label on the underside of my tank.

going by the year of your bike can be a hit or miss as some years merge into others with old stock etc.etc.

email suzuki gb with your vin number and ask them.

as far as i'm aware pearl vigor blue (YKY) only cam in the first twin spark K7 year.

Bibio,

Mine is an 07 twin spark so it should be YKY......

I am looking for a front cowl that is YKY and new they are around 400 euro with the decals - I want to get a used one in decent condition that does not need repainting so that the rest of the bike gets painted to match.

So far I have only found a used YC2 that gets close.
Problem is that I cant tell the difference in shades between YKY and YC2 - unless they are the same with the YKY having a pearl effect.

I found a french link (SV650.com (https://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?act=url&depth=1&hl=en&ie=UTF8&prev=_t&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=auto&sp=nmt4&tl=en&u=https://www.forum-sv650.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php%3F115258.0&usg=ALkJrhhwM_R3wtvwIN_Up33JaZvPzubJ5A)) that has a rather comprehensive list of years/colours, but no comparison...

Do you guys know of any dealers in the UK that might have stock from salvage/breaking?

thank you

I think YC2 is a deeper blue, there was a thread I found about a similar situation which may help:

P.S. <---- YC2

another problem is worldwide distribution. some country's get different colours for years than others. the yanks got a few colours that we never in the uk.

i would say that if your bike is a k7 twin spark and it looks pale blue in the light but changes colour to darker as the light fades then its YKY.

i would still say, send suzuki an email with your vin and ask them. it costs nothing.

if your in cyprus then again it could be a different colour to that of the uk, france, usa etc.etc

ooohhh and if it is YKY then chances of getting a second hand cowl in yky are slim, very slim due to only being produced for one year.

just found something else that is a telltale of the k7 yky. the cowl decal has black lettering for the ''650'' part.

Thank you Bibio,

Indeed it seem that YKY was only 1 year, my best bet is to find any decent cowl and have it repainted YKY.
I managed to find a touch-up bottle from an acquaintance that should have the colour code....
My mechanic also informed me that they can put the YKY code in colorrite and it should get close to what it was. (SKU # : 4996).

What do you guys in the UK do, if your bikes need a respray? (Suzuki agents in CY told me that they cant import paint).

Try a local bodyshop to see if they have a spectrometer, if they have one take in a piece of the bike that is the colour you want & they will be able to match it

Make sure you bin it badly enough that the whole thing needs a respray. Then you're guaranteed a colour match.

just had a look at the parts catalogue and it looks like the YKY decals have been discontinued. the part number is 68281-17G00-EBC as far as i can find out.

they are around £14 each.

I am a master in binning the bike just enough to require a complete respray and expensive cosmetic parts without writing it off! :-)

Thank you for the tips guys!

Nobody has mentioned these guys:

www.rsbikepaint.com

Have a look around their site. I expect them to have what you want.

Hi Coz,

I might have a litre of YC2 in my workshop, I can check tomorrow, enough to paint a full bike. If you are wanting any panels painted and graphics applied I can certainly help you out (if I haven't I can easily obtain some if you wanted it done)
