It's a good top end lubricant, but you over did it, just a bit :-)

I can say nothing as I've done it the other way round with a deisel car on a couple of occasions.

Not my proudest motorcycling moment to be honest, glad the Svs are so easy to pull apart. Had the tank off and drained in half an hour.
At least you noticed before getting going, as the GM lot can confirm, I did that mid ride on the Daytona, expensive mistake that

Ooooppps! Plenty have done it, easy enough to drain the tank and refill and you didn't start up and pull diesel through the carbs. :D

I drained it as best i could but a small amount of diesel had got through, it was cough spluttering and smoking for a bout 2 mile, seems to have sorted its self out now after a 30 mile blast to clear it.

Oops .... luckily no harm done, it won't cause any problems now it's flushed through. On the brightside, it will help stop your tank rusting on the inside :D

D'oh bet you dont do that again, more of a worry for me was those trainer shaped bike boots you're wearing ;)

I saw you lift the diesel nozzle and shouted 'oh no!' but I agree with Geodude, trainers made me proper cringe! (only as I have bounced over a car and was not so seriously damaged due to the kit I had on)

I have nearly done it. I have a diesel car now and have to be really careful not to poor the wrong fuel into my vehicles. Done it once with the car, expensive mistake, £200, and convinced me I'm not fit to drive if I've taken my migraine meds as it clearly makes my brain fuzzy.

Must admit the nike air dont really offer much protection, i was only going to do about 20 miles, maybe the diesel was a blessing in disguise, once id sorted it out i went home and put the bike away.

Were those 20 miles on bubble wrap coated roads? I'm not having a go, it's personal choice, but...
Mr LPH was about go to the bank one day, 2 and a bit miles away. I said 'put your Kevlar and boots on on'. His reply was that he was only going into town, but my nagging worked and he got changed.
On the way back a van side swiped him on a roundabout. 20mph max. Bike was a write off. His Kevlar trousers held, jeans would have been shredded. His proper boots saved his toes. His gloves stopped his hands dragging over the gravel. He's never gone out again without decent gear.

Good advice is 'dress for the fall, not the ride' (some Americans will think - 'why would I dress for the autumn' ? ) - I always cringe when I see people riding in shorts and T shirts - even the smoothest tarmac can do a surprising amount of damage. I have still got a different coloured patch of skin on my right hip and a crooked toe due to insufficient clothing when I started riding as an indestructible 'yoof'. It is ironic that a road without enough grip to stop you falling off can do so much damage to you and the bike.

I did my first ever stoppy at the weekend when a toff in an XJS convertible indicated, slammed on his brakes, and turned right in front of me. Twit. Great brakes on the SV though. Thankfully it was Shellgrip surface there.

Not done it yet, but there is time.. Always been one for dismounting before fuelling too

I just went tarmac surfing this morning! Here's to wearing kit. I wish my bike could wear some as it's a bit of a mess :(
