Yes, it has happened to me as well. I absolutely loved the Tiber 800 I had a test ride on but it was just a bit tall and top heavy for me. Yes I could have gone for a lower seat and possibly a lowering kit as well but I had another test ride on the same day and was hooked.

This was waiting for me at Hughenden M40 this morning. Although they could have vacuumed the carpet ;)

And once it was outside it became......

I am one happy camper. Light and compact and it feels so nice and relaxed to ride. Remind me to buy more Autosol.

Congrats, lovely looking bike!

Thought you'd have put a post in 'smile of the day' though. ;)

The centre stand is an option and Steve the sales guy made me aware of the lack of wheel lift as he's seen it before. Triumph say it's meant to be like that for stability but he agreed it was nuts. Will just park it over a slab of half inch ply before I lube the chain.

Will post in the Smile thread too :D

Aye, thanks. '78 T140E re-imported back home and restored/improved from knackered.

For sale sadly due to arthritic ankles not liking kick starting.

Whatever happened to kick starters and valve lifters / manual ignition advance - retard ?? Went same way as centre stands unfortunately (on most modern bikes anyway).

Nice to have a seat where the rear part isn't a foot higher than the front and does not need some serious leg lifting to get on the bike.

Cracking restoration job - pity you have to sell now.

The wife loves it for just that reason. I feel she is vulnerable perched up there on the SV and other new bikes too.

Thanks. Took a while - many, many mods.

Lovely looking bike - congratulations.

Now all you have to do is to keep it clean. Those alloy engine cases are a real pain to keep looking nice. I'd suggest regularly wiping them with ACF-50.

Blapper - have you looked at Alton starter system?
Expensive, but there's no substitute for the bike you really want to ride.

Good choice, better than those crappy Suzukis :P

I had some fun on a cafe racer version of that bike last year for 100 or so miles, very enjoyable engine, never get boring :) Did you try one of those T120's?! I have to say I was very tempted by one of them when I rode one for something to do whilst my Rocket 3 was in for it's service end of last year. The trouble is I just can't say goodbye to either of my other Triumphs (Explorer + Rocket) or take on a third lol

I've not had any issues with my triumphs so far after a combined mileage of around 18K, I have zero complaints, except for maybe the service costs at the dealership....

Alton don't do a Triumph kit. Anyways, I promised 'er indoors that I would sell it if I got the Suzuki. For me, one bike is enough.

The ali is simple to keep like chrome because it is good English ali not pressure die-cast chewing gum. Autosol and elbow grease!

Cheers for the compliments guys.

Pure aluminium is corrosion resistant, but not very strong. It is when it gets alloyed with other stuff to increase strength allowing thinner castings and saving weight that it gets less corrosion resistant, normally gets a clear coating, but once that gets compromised it is a problem.

Pressure die-casting is done to increase precision and so reduce machining costs over a large production run. Painted/clear-coated ali is sometimes pretty, but not for long and then it is sh*te. Shame they aren't all plastic. TBH there is probably half an ounce difference in weight between the classic and modern Bonnie's cases and the frame on mine is feather light (amazingly). I'll bet it is even lighter than my Suzy's, definitely around half the weight of a modern Bonnie's!
