Hi
My sv650 k1 model is idling to fast....idle screw is adjusted...throttle is as closed as it can be,,,,,one thing I did was put my hand over the opening of the front carb, while engine was running...felt the suction, then fuel, then engine stopped due to flooding I assume?....did the same with the rear carb...felt the suction, then fuel..but the engine did not stop..could this suggest a air leak in the rear carb, making the tickover to high???

Are the carbs balanced, even roughly?

Hi,
No I have not balanced them.....why can this cause a fast idle?......got to say otherwise the bike goes well..no flat spots..starts fine etc

Thanks

I think you are in the right direction with an Air-leak but also search the forum for problems with the Choke Plungers.I'm still pretty new to SVs but I think I've seen similar symptoms caused by them sticking.

How old is the choke cable? They stick after a while and need replacing.

Mine started sticking intermittently which was a pain as you cannot tell if it's balanced right until you know the choke plungers are being returned properly.

Hi
Thanks for all the info......re choke....the wire is going all the back...but the choke could still be open?

I will change all my throttle ,choke cables all though they seem ok....one thing, are the naked model cables longer because they have the high bars??....

just one thing....when the engines warm and I pull out the choke the engine starts to die...due to being to rich??...so if the choke was stuck wouldn't this happen?

It might be going all the way back at the bar, but it splits into two under the tank, so one of these could be causing your issue

Some years ago I had an intermittent tick over problem with my Curvy. The main problem was the choke cable was sticking after the split for one of the cylinders so a new one sorted that. Also one of the carbs was not connected properly to the airbox too, which didn't help.
