Hi

I undid the Crankshaft End Cap and quite a lot of oil came out, maybe 400ml, I had the bike on the side stand but I was a bit surprised.
Have I over filled it with oil, is this normal.
The oil window was showing half full while on the side stand.
I am refurbishing the bike so haven't run it for a few months.
Mileage is around 30,000 miles

Any ideas

No mention in Haynes of this happening

wayyyy too much oil is you can see it in the glass when on the side stand.

the bike needs to be upright to measure the oil level.

With the oil level correct, you probably won't see anything in the window with the bike on the side stand! Not good to over fill!

Hi

Thank you so much...I always expect the window to be half full on the side stand......

I measure the oil in a clear plastic jug with litres and ml marked on it when changing oil (got a set from Aldi ages ago, beats risking the wrath of her indoors by using her kitchen ones LOL). Bike should be vertical and on a horizontal surface (front and rear wheels level ) when checking sight glass for engine / gearbox oil level

I also measure what comes out when changing coolant, and if the same amount does not go back in I know I have air in the system.
