the ignition lock on my SV has always been a bit hard to get off the steering lock and recently got worse moving from on/off positions. I always kept the lock clean and lubed up. after taking the lock off and stripping it down I found the cause. when you insert the key it pulls the 8 protruding pins down into the barrel so the barrel can turn, this was not happening on the last few pins unless you lifted the key in it's slot. I used a mini bench grinder to carefully grind the pins down a little bit; tricky as they are spring loaded so you cannot push on them. anyhow, now when i put the key in all pins are flush with the barrel. after a bit of oil and putting it back together it feels like a new lock! well happy:D
