Decided to retire my Aprilia Mille R from a track bike to a street bike. As a track replacement I purchased a '05 SV650s. Previous owner had the SV setup for super stock club racing and he out weighed me by a good 60lbs. I knew I would have some work to do in order to get bike properly setup for me as well as a number of other items needing addressed to "make it mine."

At first I was just going to clean it up, put it on a much needed diet, prep, change spring rates and valving and run it. One thing let to another and now I have a fullbuild on my hands. Half ZX6R half SV650, some Yamaha bits as well as Ape bits with every thing (outside of new Michelin Tires) being bought used off a couple different forums, eBay and of course local ads.

Why a ZX6R and not a traditional GSXR swap you ask? Well I don't have a smart answer for you other than; 1) I like the design of the Kawasaki swingarm better, 2) their wheels are lighter and better looking imho and 3) I just wanted to do something different than the traditional swaps. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180608/4a61d08c362acd189dc241981b2f5dbf.jpg

Im open to constructive comments and even criticism if it comes with a reason. Here are some pics to keep the thread interesting:

Swingarm needed to be notched to clear shock.

Battery and rectifier relocated and bike rewired as track bike.

A handful of parts were taken to Full Throttle Powdercoating in Corona .CA. All bearings were replaced afterwards.

Front forks are freshly rebuilt with Ohlins 25 carts inside and a Scotts damper up top. Top/bottom yokes shaved.

How "SV Frankinstine" sits now, just need to build exhaust and tie up some loose ends. At the end of the day I made something different, put my twist on it, and I sure hope it works!

Suggestions? Thoughts?

FYI: I have a bin of leftover and mockup parts for sale from '05 SV, '03 GSXR, and 05-08 ZX6R.

Looks great, and very purposeful! I reckon it would look even meaner if the swingarm was satin black to match the frame, but that's just me :)

Does the bike have any major engine mods apart from the exhaust? That M4 system looks cool.

No motor mods, trying to keep it as reliable as possible but we'll see.
Swingarm was black but needed to be stripped to weld on. Also, I wanted a very raw looking bike and was originally going to have the frame stripped as well. If you look close at the fuel tank you'll see that it's clear powdercoat not gray. You are right, it would flow together better for the eye if the swingarm was black.

Thats funny. The "ironing board" actuallly serves a purpose. I relocated the electronics, namely the rectifier' under the seat away from the motor heat. The "ironing board" is there to capture air and has vents to allow air to escape. Not sure about SV's, 1st one, but my Aprilia produces a lot of heat which kills its electronics/charging/starting issues. You know I'm going to call it the ironing board now [emoji2]

I really like the clear powdercoat on the tank, it's a great (non) colour!

Thought I would bump this back to the top with some fresh pics. I need to get this hot rod on the track before she goes up for sale.

Impressive! How has the geometry been affected by the front and swing arm?

Impressive! How has the geometry been affected by the front and swing arm? We'll see how it handles this coming weekend at chuckwalla. I've tried real hard to keep the geometry as close to OEM as possible.

Some update pics.
Moved overflow(s), changed radiator out for gen1, airbox in construction, lots of little mods and fixes along the way.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191114/acb26d169a90e5e34035cdf04e077767.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191114/fafa39f24bb79a4f65539e882dc2a0a8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191114/b6301111b85512edae20334834952e0d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191114/fe077cc5441722c140a7817af95e7fe8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191114/d923788c266d880a33d3d693fe0d49d6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191114/8c5686b7ea7c3d13f8d83de911a0270d.jpg

I don't know if you have done it already but have you considered getting/making a,"Blank" and taking the Starter-Motor off to lose a few more pounds?

Thanks for the input. I've thought about that some because weight loss has been a big priority on this bike. However, I go to most track events by myself so being able to just push a button is nice. Guess I could start it while its on the stands....

Gen 1 radiator on gen 2. Narrower so should crash better but thicker core and a bit taller so should cool just as well? [emoji848]

After thinking about this bike that has done more sitting then riding, I have decided to sell.

Please PM me if you are interested in a track day weapon that is super fun, reliable and easy on parts.

Probably best to put this in the relevant for sale section, although as this is primarily a Brit forum, there may not be many takers.
