So with all the MOT changes my thoughts of modifications galore with my beast rocket 3 roadster have come to an abrupt stop....had the bike since 2013 from new and it's be great...call it a mid life crisis but today I started the trade in for a GSX-S1000F after test riding one....
Anyone here riding one? Care to pitch in and tell me how you're getting on with it? I had a blast on the test ride I must say, the fuelling, weight, steering response all seemed very decent to me....
This weekend they have a deal on too, £1000 off RRP for a 68 plate if the deal is done before the weeks over, so I bit the bullet, and I've ended agreeing to ordering one, and with nothing to pay after trade in...assuming he doesn't go back on his word (valued the rocket 3 roadster at £9500 trade-in!)
The only trouble I have is I can't decide on the bloody colour! What do you guys think?
The matt black phantom one is out of the question, I'm not going to try to keep a matt finish bike looking good, bike needs to be shiny to be polished :) and I already have a white tiger...so it's either black/blue or black/red

What do you guys think? I'm edging towards the red...but why is this so damn hard to decide!

Someone at work has the 750 & loves it
Red mate, its the only colour, apart from silver

haha, you would say silver.....sleeping on it but red wins it for me so far...that blue is so classically suzuki though....I always wanted an sv in that colour back in the day
I still can't get over the test ride today, mate that thing goes, red lines at 11K rpm and goes bonkers from about 9K :) traction and wheelie control definitely helps

Blue all the way. Blue ones are faster too. Don't be fooled by what those other liars say....

Bit too much black on the blue model
Don't forget the classic Heron Suzuki's of the 70 & 80's were red, white & black

Get the matt one, it should make a good primer for a custom spray paint job.

Just when I was coming around to the blue and black I've had a call from the dealership, there are no more blue/blacks available now, red/black it is :)

I'm sure it'll still be great.
Even if it is slower.

Blue or Red at least it's not another Triumph :-)

Its alright, I still have a triumph, and it still thinks its the boss...for now....until there's a 790 KTM adventure in production....

There is same amount of black on the blue one as there is on the red one
If you get red people will think it is a Honda, blue is proper Suzuki colour.

Getting the red, only red and Matt black left....white was my first choice (although I already have a white tiger) but never any to grab
just read it properly... straight swap for the rocket.. :smt023
something i dont like is the bar mounted mirrors when they could have put fairing mounted ones on no problem, makes the bike look like "lets just slap a fairing on the naked and put an F badge on". mind you suzuki are pretty famous for parts bin specials.

Yeah, was way too easy a trade, the rocket held it's value really well, now they no longer make them I am guessing the value is holding, cost me less than £500/year to own over 5 yrs....not gonna be the case here I don't think but got a good deal, in today's prices anyway :)
The triumph dealership was offering me more than £2K less on trade-in for a S/H Z1000SX....they're not going to see me again for anything unless I have to go there, robbing barstewards

Yeah, after all the SV650 sport has mirrors mounted on the fairing, but then it also has clip-ons...this thing really is a naked (GSX-S1000 - non F) with a front fairing slapped on.
I can live with the mirrors, but they could have done better with the front and center look, raised it up a bit maybe...would have been a great homage to the SV...pointy faired SV's still looks great IMHO
Still, once sitting on the bike and riding it non of that matters, then you just love the thing, great machine, really is. So smooth and much more relaxed than a RRR super sports thing in everyday riding / if not pushed but get it to 8K onwards and it starts to really liven up.
As a side note to all those riding faired SV's that might want a new bike, I think we'll see the GSX-S750F soon enough, should be a great replacement (albiet an IL4)

Staying stock for a while, may well be a rear shock is the first thing....time will tell
The exhaust looks and sounds great stock and it doesn't change sound much with just an aftermarket can, needs to be a full system swap really and I don't need the hassle of remapping to make it run right just yet :) black widow do some nice full systems (https://www.blackwidowexhausts.co.uk/full-system-844-c.asp) that aint too badly priced though, on my potential shopping list

Agree.
Just bought one, blue-black less than 500 miles, considerable saving and too good to pass up.
Couldn't part with my SV though, it's staying!

I keep getting drawn to these. I have permission, had the funds, then wife booked Caribbean cruise. So back saving!

That's a shame!
It is mental. I have never owned a litre bike and to be honest probably a good job until now.
The Suzuki familiarity has made it a much easier transition, but that engine is a work of art even if the throttle response requires a postgrad in control. :(
