Hi All,

Does anyone know if the values given in the Haynes '99 to '02 manual for the TPS resistance values is correct ? (Ppn pair 'A' between 3.5 - 6.5 K-ohms with throttle closed, changing as throttle opens and pin pair 'B' always being 78% of 'A').

If the manual's right both my original and a replacement TPS are shagged & I'm not yet in a position to test the replacement on the bike. But I've had problems with Haynes manuals before ...

Cheers

The Suzuki manual uses different nomenclature but the values match with what Haynes say.

Cheers Seeker,

Looks like I've got two knackered ones...

you do know that the TPS on the curvy does pretty much nothing.... what makes you think you need to change it?

No, I'm not well up on the curvy and guessed it might have some control over the ignition timing.

I suspected it as my son's new (1999) SV would cough and fart a bit while accelerating & I found that a previous owner had disconnected the TPS. Plugging it back in again make no difference & checking the thing against the values in the Haynes manuals showed pin pair "A" had gone open circuit. Assumed the TPS was at fault.

Anyhoo, cleaned the carbs (loads of rust flakes in there and in the fuel tap which is missing it's filter) and installed new choke plungers and o rings. But I managed to over tighten the drain screws & crack the float bowls! I'm not particularly ham-fisted & that's the first time I've managed that.

Once I replace the float bowls the quest will continue!
