View Full Version : chain plastic slider
always wondered about the plastic slider that keeps the chain off the top of the swingarm. Mines showing quite a bit of wear now so I take they are replaceable but, typically, how many miles do they last?

Depends on how you look after the chain and that section of the swing arm
Yes, replaceable. Cheaper than replacing the chain and swing arm, as its providing a vital job

Having looked at mine yesterday. It's showing shallow grooves in it from the chain.
But at 54,000 miles I think it'll out live the rest of the bike.
Thanks. I look after my chain reasonably well but the gouges in the slider are quite deep. Maybe its a case of initial rapid wear that produces the grooves and then the rate slows as the centre part of each link starts to make contact with the slider......

I think that's probably it.
