I'm making a concerted effort to get building regs approvals completed for my extension. I think everything is boxed off EXCEPT for some glass windows.

So I re-used the windows we took out of the kitchen as window & door for the garage. This puts the window and door right next to each other and it turns out that I need toughened glass next to a door for building regs.

My question is:- in a two pane window (opener and fixed), do I replace the window glass unit next to the door only or both panes of glass? If it makes a difference, the opener is next to the door.

This is a bit helpful, but not clear if a window ( a glazed area attached to another glazed area ) that is above 800mm and not within 300mm of the door has to be safety glass as well as the window adjoining the door.

I hadn't found that in my searches. The diagram is useful. I'm happy now that it is only the pane within 300mm of the door that needs replacing, not both panes.
