As I’m about to be SV-less I’ve picked up this 2014 MT-09.

Really like it. Nice comfy riding position - I’m permanently retired from clip-ons now.

More a fun bike than terribly practical but should suit me.

Totally standard and I’m going to TRY and leave it that way. For a bit.

Nice, welcome to the club :)

It's different, but still the same

And another one.
A little bit different but pretty much the same.
I've done nothing to this apart from crash bungs and mirror extenders. Love the engine and the torque but the suspension, despite attempts at adjustment, is still on the firm side for me.

You have to change the colour of the wheels, they don't do it for me I'm afraid

Otherwise, its a nice lump

Some of Yamaha's newer colours are very odd. The new Tracer GT in that undercoat grey. Makes it look very plastic which I can't imagine is the impression they want to give on their high spec model. Nice bikes, but I'm not sure where their colour choices are coming from. Maybe I'm getting old but the flouro models were really horrible.

That reminds me, I have ordered mirror extenders but that is pretty necessary. The view is 60% elbow at the moment.

And I love the wheel colour...Racing Blu :)

I’m alright with that. It’s the lack of exhaust sound that I’m finding hard to bear.

A colleague of mine has had an MT-09 for three years (very long time for him) and absolutely loves it.
His came with the titanium exhaust and he's done front and rear suspension mods which he says have transformed the ride.
I kinda like that XSR version.

A tail tidy too far... My back gets wet.
And those mirror extenders are needed on the XSR too.

Tail tidy idea baffles me.
Just looks like there's something missing?

It’s a fashion thing isn’t it? I don’t mind the “number plate on a stick” that my bike has.

The newer models have the more trendy tail-less look with the plate wrapped around the back tyre on an arm coming off the wheel spindle. I find that really weird but it’s getting mainstream.

But it’s probably just all about what you’re used to. I hanker after a good practical snow shovel these days.

They're not particularly pretty but I wouldn't change mine for a tail tidy. I do too many miles and prefer the practicality of the original SV back end.

I like it so much I got a can of that Racing Blu and did the fakey air intakes with it

This is possibly too far, but the wheel balance weights just didn’t blend in so I had to paint them too.

I haven’t been able to use the bike in the nice weather because I took it apart :)

I’ve now cleaned everything and painted some rusty bits.

Previous owner lost a couple of bodywork bolts and put some random ones in. They were hidden under the seat but they DIDN’T MATCH so I had to change them all for symmetry.

All back together now with lubricated fastenings.

It’s an illness you know...

Should make the fake air extra cool now

Your tyre fitter is gonna have a laugh when you next visit :p

Last time I got tyres the fitter used black stick on balance weights which match the black wheels.

Looking good Tam, hope it's not too lonely in the garage.
