I'm after a new underwater camera for stills, quite like the look of the Fuji XP130, anyone got any experience with this or any others? The Olympus range look nice but rather too pricey!
I bought a Fuji for my son a few years back. I can't say he's used it much so can't comment too much but it seems okay. We used to sell a Nikon version but they often come back with water damage. There's a Lumix version too that's priced more in line with the Fuji.

Lumix are usually pretty good but both on JL and other places the reviews have been pretty bad. The ones for the Fuji are better but there are complaints about image quality etc., but from my experience of my 6MP cheapo Vivitar, that's often just because you're underwater in the first place.
The Fuji Cameras seem to be prone to the power button breaking. I picked up an XP off ebay and managed to fix it but haven't tried it underwater yet. I think you need to take care of the seals. Have you considered a Go-Pro or similar? You could grab still from the video.

Yeah they're pretty much fisheye though, my sister in law uses hers and it's all a bit odd.
How about an underwater housing for a cheap compact. I'm thinking secondhand.

I got something like that from Gumtree. Sony Cybershot and case for a whole £20.

Hmm interesting thought.
So I'm guessing no one here has a Fuji diving camera?
I have one of the Fuji XP range, Its an XP20. Not used it in anger as I'm not sure if its water tight. Find the focus a bit laggy but it is an older model so maybe the newer ones are better. I personally prefer the look of the Lumix range but would love a Nikon AW.

Chance for a deal? Mismatch on battery, but can't be all that expensive to replace?

The Olympus has gone, £45 for a 6MP though? How do you find the pictures from the XP?
Average I guess. Not really played with it much. I thought the Olympus was unsold.
Took a punt on this to see if it's the power button 274234131591

There's a Finepix 140 for £109 on the Fuji refurb site.
You can always return it if you don't like it

Good spot yoko, I hadn't even heard of that. I had another look though at Harrison Cameras in Sheffield, their used stuff changes quite quickly, and they had an XP130 for £60. It's almost identical to the 140 and they are going on ebay for around 60 anyway, so I've ordered it. They're a decent bunch there, and the used stock always looks good and at fair prices.
Thanks all! Hopefully it's the end of the story!
