Hi,

What bulbs does the first generation SV650 take for its dash backlight?

Also how many of the bulb (and types)?

Thanks,

"S" model? Looks like there are 3 bulbs and a pain in the neck to change:

Here's the parts diagram: https://www.robinsonsfoundry.co.uk/shop/online-store/suzuki-parts-finder/sv/sv650/x-y-k1-k2-1999-2002.htm#!sv650xspeedo2

Another link that talks of LED replacements.

I replaced all of mine with LEDs. Much better.

Hi,

Looking through those links doesn't make it clear what they are. Are they R509TV bulbs?

Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks,

post # 12 in the first link sends you here:

I haven't done this myself but it does look like the bulb you need is a R509TV. The R509T seems to be more common but I couldn't find out what the "V" means.

Hi,

On looking it appears that the V denotes a difference in size being smaller?

Google does not help in sourcing another supplier. Any suggestions or will I have to go down the LED route? :(

You could order them from a Suzuki dealer, back orders usually only take a couple of days or you could take an old bulb to Halfords and compare them.
The Suzuki part number is 09471-12189-LCP and if you google that, there's an ebay link (from Suzuki GB): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-Genuine-TL1000-Model-V-1997-Speedometer-Bulb-09471-12189-LCP-/222033936460

These look different but that's because they plug into the plastic socket that Suzuki sell separately but they should fit (into the sockets that are already on your bike). The previous autobulb link picture shows the bulb and socket together.

I'd probably investigate LED bulbs for the choice of colours available.

Hi,

Thanks for the help. I will be ordering some of those bulbs. Are they also the same for the warning lights?

Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks,

I admire your faith in me considering I have declared that I've not done this ;)

The parts diagram... https://www.robinsonsfoundry.co.uk/shop/online-store/suzuki-parts-finder/sv/sv650/x-y-k1-k2-1999-2002.htm#!sv650xspeedo2

...shows quantity 5 of item #14 so I'm assuming that those are the warning lights. In which case the bulb is a 09471-12108-LC1 which are also on ebay.

These are common vehicle dash bulbs so Halfords should carry them too (not with Suzuki part numbers, obviously) assuming you're in the UK. Pep Boys or similar in the US.

Hi,

That's a very useful link, thank you!

What is bulb part 09471-12085-LCP for then I wonder? It shows only as one? Is that the overheating warning lamp?

Thanks,
