Nope, I don't have one but I'll admit I have been looking.

If you're only using it for internet banking and other such things you'll use very little data in a month.

Pre Covid when i was out more, i'd use about 7GB on an average month. But i was using it most work days to stream YouTube or Netflix at lunch, and social media with photo uploads/uploads on a daily basis.

On the Oppo you can view your data usage, and it breaks it down by App too - so you can monitor how much is being used.

I have a 100 gig sim only plan with unlimited calls and texts from Three. Netflix doesn’t use any data with this deal and I can use it as a hot spot so it’s like a router for the kids. I use about 15 gig because I listen to Spotify a lot and watch a few YouTube videos every day. I only have such a big plan so my kids can connect when we go camping and watch Netflix and go on YouTube. It used to be a 30gig plan but when I came to renew they did a 100 for the same price. Not bad for 18 quid a month. If you don’t use YouTube or Spotify then 8 gig would be overkill

lets say i use it as a wifi hotspot for connecting a 4k telly to so i can watch netflix what sort of data would i use then? it would be for the mrs and 14hrs a day.

voxi do an unlimited data but dont know if that includes wifi hotspot and the site is less than helpfull about such things.

If you are using your home Wi-Fi it won't eat your data. I have a Tesco Sun with 20gb but tend to use less than 6. That's even streaming Prime music.

If you get the three plan Netflix doesn’t come out of your data so in effect it would use none. I dont know how much it would use otherwise

I’ve got this problem now since I got the cataract surgery. Distance vision is great (for the first time in my life) but I can’t read at all now without reading glasses.

Have a look at ThinOptics. I’ve got a full frame pair attached to the back of my phone in a very slim case and another set of folding specs on a key ring.

They’re not cheap but great design.

I average about 6gb, mainly listening to music over the air wavays and rendering hi-def sv650.org animations :smt082

Giffgaff 10gb a month (£10), unregistered SIM , VPN, I still have some of the privacy you desire - in fact I've been guising myself as you for quite a few years so I'll have to change that now.

Her-in-doors bought me one about a month ago. Not made a call or sent a message on it yet. Used it to check the weather a couple of times.

It might help if I actually gave the number out but even if I do I rarely have it with me, and on two occasions the battery has been flat anyway.

Before retirement my company phone was always with me, and almost in constant use - calls, messages, emails, Whatsapp.

Hate the things with a passion.

Im with voxi as it happens but I don't quite know if setting as a hotpot to share the 4g will be counted as one of the data free apps.

I can watch Prime Netflix Youtube and others in pretty much interrupted 1080p all day long though. I've been with them a while so I've earned myself an upgrade to 20GB/mo and the unlimited socials/Video addon for £15mo, rarely use more than 2gb these days

Just got my son the Oppo A5 for his first phone. For the money it's a great phone.

It'll chew it up pretty quickly using it like that.

When I moved out of my home & into rented accom, I was regularly using up the 6gb plan I was on, that wasn't watching films, that was just browsing.

With Netflix you are able to download the content onto a device, to watch off line. That'd save your data for sure.

GiffGaff were doing 40gb plans, and at least you don't have to take out a long term plan with them.

Otherwise buy a MiFi dongle and watch netflix on a laptop or tablet, using the MiFi as dongle. You could use the GiffGaff sim in that?

If you keep them downloaded you will need to refresh the download every couple of weeks or so. It's not another full download, but more confirming you wish it to still be active. Had to do this quite often when my little girl was Trolls mad. I kept all the episodes on my phone, just incase.

If you think of it like that, Netflix (/amazon whoever) saves you on storage and upkeep of your hardware too (providing they have your tastes on their service :-dd )

Customise notifications for each app. Set them to silent if you prefer. Also set up a do-not-disturb automatic schedule 10pm-8am for example

There's an amazing bit of tech for this called "Shoebox". You put your phone in it and put it under the sofa in another room when you don't want it to disturb you.

I got one. Not cheap at £35, but it did come with free shoes. :)

Isn't there an 'off' button on the phone ? When I had a microsoft phone ( Lumia something or other IIRC ) the alarm would not work if the phone was turned off, but alarm on every other phone i'd had before and since did. So with stupid MS phone if you wanted to use the alarm you had to leave the phone turned on all night making various noises while you tried to sleep... and a shoebox wasn't an option, who wants to carry a shoebox with them when traveling ?

Wrap it in a towel? There are other options... shoebox was just a silly example. Also there's a lot to be said for a stand alone alarm clock. You can get small cheap ones. We got one for my daughter to stop her going on her phone after lights out. The need for an alarm was her excuse to keep the phone by her bed... and sneak onto it until 2am when were all asleep.

read small prints.

I have multiple sims in office and garage alarms and also the bike trackers from giffgaff. All pay as you go and use minimal.

My phone is unlimited talk/sms/data from Virgin. But I needed a fall over internet.

I have 600Mb Virgin, but cannot get a telephone based internet as I am too far from the exchange (5m) for internet over aluminium cable. Yes aluminium and not copper with no plans for FTTP despite all the ads I get over the internet. So I need an unlimited sim.

3 great except it is 3G, they caught me when my kids persuaded me to go with them to discover no 4G where I live.
EE great 4G, but their unlimited is actually a fair use of 1TB. for someone like me who uses about 100GB/day useless.
So I currently have an unlimited sim from Vodafone business which cost me £26/month. Even though it is 5G. I cannot get a 5G signal.

I have acrually had to lend my daughter the modem and a wifi router as she has been waiting 3 months for openreach to provide a line to her farmhouse. I saw them doing the install to the yard last week so hopefully she may be live. But as she is about 6 miles from the exchange I somehow think she may be getting a signal litle better than my aluminium cable. She initially told me the modem/router were not working. Well no, her house was built 1629 and has solid stone walls/roof Reposition the modem in the window that gave strongest signal and 20yard of cable to the wifi router in the lounge and the smart tv gets wifi.

Bonus 14yr old dirt bag grandson can only use his laptop/phone in the lounge so no more dodgy sites.
