Anybody had any contact with Bill recently? Just wondering if he's ok.

I'm friends with him on FB. He is OK and in good spirits. He's had some medical issues this year but seems to have come through them.

Thanks Mike. I knew he'd had a few medical problems so it can be a bit worrying when previously active members disappear for long periods. Could you pass on my regards to him please?

Greetings lads!
Wow, time flies! Guess it's been a while.
Hope you all are doing fine.

I'm doing well, been mostly tending to my grandson who just had a kidney transplant and is doing very well now.

Healthwise I'm finally doing well again but the years of inactivity and a being hit by a car in 2019 has caused me to retire SV. (bike problems)
Took months to get parts in 2020 and now seems to develop new problems every 200 miles and now needs a speedo head.
Given that it also needs 2 tires and a chain and sprocket set it's time to quit throwing money at it.
I am owed money in a settlement so hopefully can get another bike whenever that comes through.
(been waiting a while)

Hallo Bill, great to see you back on the .org again. Been wondering how you were.

Shame about the SV, she served you well but I guess the time comes to move on.

Glad to hear your grandson’s doing well, there were some worrying times a while back by the sound of it. And likewise yourself, it seemed you were in hospital quite a bit. Really pleased to see things are picking up now.

What do you think about another bike, any idea what you might get?

The smart money would be a new vstrom, but it I could get a deal on a low mileage sport tourer like a FJ1300 or a Connie...I might. Despite the weight, that hard luggage and shaft drive really suit the type riding I do now. But the lighter weight vstrom would last the rest of my riding career easily.
I'll see what's for sale when I have the money in hand.
Any suggestions??

I also think the V-Strom would be good. Good touring capabilities and you would still have that lovely, punchy, V twin engine.

My son loved his V-Strom, the only bike he's ever bought new. He started easy trail riding with it and started to push things, so swapped it before he broke the frame riding hard trails. He now has another V-Strom 5 years later as the trail riding has dropped off - still loves it.

Great to hear you're well Bill, why not a Tiumph Daytona 675?! They're a bit of pocket sized, blast your pants off fun and just the sort of thing to 'go out with a bang' as it were! :smt082 ;)

I've done just on 40,000 miles on a v-strom now, needed something upright to help my arthritic spine :)
I can thoroughly recommend it as an all-rounder, and if you get the centre stand option even chain maintenance is quick and easy.
I find it very easy on tyres (20,000 a set for me), chains and sprockets (25,000 on my last set) and fuel (65mpg is easy at a steady 65-70mph).
Only things I found needed changing right away were the screen and mirrors, they both create a lot of wind noise - replaced stock screen with a Givi Airflow and BMW F800 mirrors (Tuono Mirrors are a popular choice too) and the noise is gone
