Hi all

SV650N 2002, K1, naked.

Can anyone tell how much the forks should protrude through the upper yoke.

On mine it is 5/8 of an inch measured excluding the hexagonal section. The previous owner did a lot of changes so it is likely not standard.

I want to put the bike back to it's original geometry.

Thanks

Thanks. Looks like mine has been lowered at the front.

I would guess so. I never thought my SV was particularly slow to steer so I'm surprised that your previous owner lowered the front and raised the back. Must be quite twitchy.

My only ride so far has been about 90 minutes to bring it home. I was riding cautiously so not really a good test. I want to put everything back to original factory and then can make changes if anything is needed.

I think IIRC the naked forks were flush with the yokes and on the faired bike the forks protruded by 1cm. The naked swingarm is also 1cm longer than the faired bike.

Thanks. I've been looking at loads of old pics online. Majority the forks are flush or protruding by about half a cm

mine is standard - they are flush on a 99er

the stanchion top excluding the cap should be 6mm from the top of the yoke. for some reason the US ones are 3mm. as far as i know this is for the N and the S.

That's what my pointy was .. I had it set at 6mm.

I've had my SK1 from new, it came from the dealer with the top of the stanchion level with the yoke, just the caps were above.

That's always been the position of my fork stanchions too, on my 2000 Curvy sport.

My K3 manual shows both N and S with tube level to surface of upper clamp...

the pic in my post above was from the suzuki workshop manual.

Yes I can see that so there must have a change at some stage. Which model manual is that pic from?

i think its the very first one.

i would personally set the fork height to zero then set the sag up. take it for a few spins and see how it feels then adjust till its somewhere i like.

I just did my forks on a K3, extract from the Suzuki workshop manual I used (dated 2003):

K3 is a pointy e.g. K3-K9 (ish) OP is on about a curvy which are pre K3. different bike. but good to let people know anyway.

Aye, I should have pointed out that that was a reply to glang, not the OP!
